Creating a Culture of Excellence!!

Message to our Families from FSLW Stacey McLennan

Dear families,

As my time in New Norway as the Family School Liaison Worker draws to a close, I want to express my sincere appreciation to the school and to the community for the last five years at New Norway School. I have been honored and blessed to work alongside incredible staff and am so honored to have worked with the students and families in our school community. My new role as Program Manager with BRSD's Mental Health Capacity Building Program will allow me to continue to find creative ways to serve our school's to enhance student mental health with a continued focus on social emotional learning.

My journey at New Norway School is filled with many beautiful memories and I will miss the smiles, the hugs and the heart that continues to shine through so brightly each and every day. The spirit of what it means to be a Spartan will always be imprinted on me and may each of you be proud of the person you are and the difference you make.

Go Spartans!

Take good care,

Stacey McLennan

Student Leadership

Our High school Students Union of New Norway school travelled to Vimy Ridge School to attend the Horizons event on Tuesday, April 4! They listened to guest speakers who talked about the importance of resilience and self-worth, learning about the value of changing the way you speak to and about yourself. The speeches touched the hearts of our student leaders, and we hope to emphasize the importance of loving and taking care of yourself to our students!

St. PatrickĀ“s Day With New Norway

Green is the Best day !
The leprechauns payed us a visit on the eve of St. Patrick's Day! They left behind their footprints and glitter all over our classrooms and desks! Despite the endless searching, the leprechauns showed us that they are too clever for our traps and not a single one was captured or found!

BRACE Shared Students

Just a quick reminder that for some of you writing diplomas in April, they begin on April 17th. Please check with your home school where you will be writing before the day of the exam. If you complete a course in April, please return your textbooks.

All students should be 40% of the way through their semestered courses. Please be checking your email regularly and also accessing moodle daily. You should be spending approximately 80 minutes per day per course online. You are able to connect with your teachers via phone, email and google meets.

If you have any questions please contact your teachers or Mrs. Swanson at 780-672-2205.

Student Verification forms

Thank you to our families who have already completed your child's student verification form on the Powerschool portal. If you have yet to complete these forms, we would kindly ask that you complete them ASAP. If you are needing assistance completing them please contact Mrs. Brown at the school.

Hello BRSD families!

Students from across the world want to join us in Battle River School Division. Are you able to help welcome them?

We are seeking caring families to host students in their home during the 2023-2024 school year. International Student placements can range from one month to the full school year in duration, so you can choose an option that works for your family.

Right now, we have students who will be joining us from Germany, Belgium, Spain and other European countries, as well as from Asia and South America. Hosting an International Student can change their life for the better and will give your family the chance to learn more about other cultures and countries as well. Lifelong connections and friendships can be made.

There is a $700 per month stipend provided to help offset costs.

To find out more about the International Student Homestay Program, please contact Gail Rombough by email at or by phone at 780-781-0615.

Thank you for considering this opportunity!
