Eagle Academy Weekly Update
Week of December 8, 2019
Student Achievment
Aleeyah Lopez-Bowden is Eagle's student of the week!
Deck the halls!
Students in Mrs. Newman's English class have gotten into the spirit of the holidays! This combination of tree and literature was put together by students Emily Martin and Savannah Brady.
Art de l'académie d'aigle
Students in Mr. Smith’s Social Studies classes are getting some fine art exposure. Students are comparing art from various periods in order to better understand how art developed over the centuries, and how it continues to develop today.
Edible Cells!
Eagle scientists used Oreos cookies to model the cell. They made a model of each step of the cell cycle (interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis) and used the sprinkles to show the movement of chromosomes in these steps. Delicious!
Climate and Culture
An EHT legend joins the Eagle Team!
Veteran EHT teacher Marian Ingemi has graciously volunteered to close out the year with Eagle Academy, filling in the spot vacated by Jerry Meister, who retired in September. Mrs. Ingemi brings her expertise to the Eagle team until the start of the New Year, when a permanent replacement is expected. Thank you, and welcome, Mrs. Ingemi!
Cookies!
Eagle culinary students are cooking up a special treat for the holiday season. Students will spend the week making decorative sugar cookies of all shapes and sizes, and all from scratch. Students will get to take them home and share them with friends and family. This is another holiday food tradition led by Mrs. McGinnis that has been going strong for more than a decade!
Community Connection
One Judge One School program visit
This week Judge Sandson from Recovery Court will speak to our juniors and seniors, as part of the One Judge One School program OJOS. The OJOS program is an effort to link the courthouse to the community, to teach about the law and the judicial system, and to have judges serve as positive role models for the students.

Mr. Collesano and student Nate Paredes have been working hard in the Phys Ed room recording Eagle Academy’s weekly announcements. Click here to listen!
Stockton canine visitor
A security team from Stockton University visited Eagle Academy to drill with their working dogs in a school setting. Handler Lieutenant Tracy Stewart from Stockton University Campus Police and her dog Hemi won the National Explosive Dog Championship two years in a row!
