Malta joined the EU on May 1st, 2004. Originally they had been rejected from the when on March 8th, 2003 they had an election to join. They narrowly won for joining the EU. However, the Labour part rejected these votes.
History on Malta
Malta is in the center of the Mediterranean Sea 93km South of Sicily. Malta's flag is a representation of the George Cross, it is red and white. Malta's capital is Valleta. Some major cities in Malta are Mosta, Rabat, Mdina, and Birgu. The number one tourists attraction is Gozo. The type of government is a republic. The euro is their currency which replaced the Maltese lira.
