Key Club, 4/29
Attention Key Cub members: We will meet on Monday, April 29 afterschool at 3:00 in the lecture hall.
History Club, 4/29
The History Club will meet Monday 29 April 2024 after school in room 212. We are continuing our end of the year wrap up and members who were given a copy of the book we have been reading are to bring it so they can return it. If anyone has any questions feel free to Teams Message Mr. Katz or Mr. Ferrara.
SCA Applications, Due 5/17
Are you interested in being a leader for your class? Organizing school events and fundraisers?
Pick up an application to be a SCA Officer for next school year! Applications are due to Ms. Hard by Friday, May 17th and can be found in the front office. Applications are open to ALL JM students who are in good academic and behavioral standing and must be able to provide two teacher recommendations.
If you have any questions, please stop by room 244!
The Writing Center, Tuesdays
The Writing Center is up and running. If you need help with writing, want to write for publication, or like to help others, we meet every Tuesday after school.
The Reflector website is up and running, sharing JMHS student writing with the world! Next month's contest involves writing about local history! Produce a 250–500-word article about a historical person or place to win prizes and get your article published!

Academic and Career Plans for Juniors are being sent home over the next few weeks, please have them signed and returned to counseling.
Senior Section
Diploma Seals
Seniors, if you have proof of at least 50 hours of community service and would like a Civics seal on your diploma, please contact your school counselor by May 1st.
If you have completed 50 hours or more of work-based learning in a STEM area and have received college level credit in a STEM field, contact your counselor about a STEM seal on your diploma.
If you are able to demonstrate proficiency in a world language other than English by showing a score of 4 or higher on a world language AP exam or scoring a 600 or higher on the Latin SAT II test, please contact your counselor about the Biliteracy seal for your diploma.
If you have completed 50 hours or more of voluntary participation in community activities that involve the application of science and have done field research and presented the information in a formal, juried setting, please contact your counselor about the Science and Environment Seal for your diploma.
Senior Acceptances!
Seniors, if you want the names of any colleges, military branches or trade schools that you have been accepted to listed in the graduation program, please put your name on the acceptance board in counseling no later than Wednesday, April 17th.
Debt/Library Material
Seniors, reminder to return all textbooks to the library before you leave for the year. You must have your accounts settled and textbooks returned in order to participate in graduation ceremonies.
Scholarships
Seniors planning to attend a 4-Year University should be regularly checking the Senior Class Outlook group for scholarship opportunities. Hundreds of scholarships have already been sent out this year.

Snacks!
Ms. Smith in the counseling office has snacks for the following:
- students who have completed the FAFSA,
- come in for help completing the FAFSA,
- have a cap to hang up for a college acceptance (this includes Germanna), military enlistment, or other post-graduation decision.

A new video series of inspirational messages for City youth featuring previous James Monroe High School students and Fredericksburg community members. We are all one community, and our students are a very important part of it. This video series is produced by Fredericksburg City Public Schools and the City of Fredericksburg. Please watch and share the videos below. More will be coming soon.
Parking Passes-On Sale Now
Bus Passes
In order to obtain a bus pass for a different bus, the student must turn in a note to the front office before lunch. We must confirm the note to be able to give the student a pass.
After School Policy
No Commercial Food Deliveries During School Day
Behind the Wheel
Any student who plans on taking the Behind the Wheel course this semester needs to email Mr Brown at debrown@cityschools.com and get registered. If you have already registered, you need to call and get a scheduled time to drive.
You are required to drive at least 3 days. Please include in your email a contact number so Mr Brown can schedule you.
