Not your Momma's PTO
We are all too busy to come to boring PTO meetings once a month, and sit before a stuffy board and all say "I". We are no longer holding monthly meetings. We have our PTO Facebook page (Union Hill PTO), where questions can be asked and answered, and suggestions can be made at your convenience. We also have officer contact information listed below and will be happy to hear any questions or concerns you may have.
We will have two general membership meetings. The first meeting will be at the fall Open House, and then we will schedule a meeting for mid second semester. These meetings give parents opportunities to see how their hard-earned fundraising money is being spent, and spend time with the administration and our board.
What to expect
We know that everyone dreads the fundraisers, but they are so important. First, the school depends on our auxillary funds. We pay for copies which cost $5000-$7000 each year. We also help teachers with purchases for their classrooms, and with projects around the school. When we help out with the little things, the school can use their federal and state funding for larger projects.
Our fundraisers are changing. We are hosting our first annual Craft Fair on October 4th. We will earn money through vendor fees and concessions. All we ask from you is to show up and participate. Have a yummy hamburger or hot dog and Christmas shop early !
We are also having a wrapping paper fundraiser. This is replacing the cookie dough for this year. We will make 40-45% off of these items, and your children can earn exciting prizes for their participation.
Trash to Cash!
We will still collect box tops. You may send them in throughout the year and at collection times. Please label each bag with your student's name, grade, and homeroom teacher. This allows us to give them the credit for their contribution. The school receives over $2000 each year from these little bits of trash.
We are going to begin collecting Campbell's Soup Labels for Education. Each label earns points that we use to purchase small items from their online store. These items range from sports equipment to office supplies. Please follow the same guidelines for collections as the Box Tops, but please keep them separate.
How to contact us
During fundraisers we can always use People Power. The more help we have the more we can do. The school is always looking for dependable volunteers. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please let us know. We are also excited to help answer any questions or listen to any suggestions about how we can help our school be its best!
