A Note From Ms. D
I hope you have had a great week! We have worked hard in all of our subjects in Grade 1 and it is amazing how much we are growing each day! In Math, we learned and practiced the new strategy of making a 10 to add to teen numbers more efficiently. In Writing, we expanded our use of introductions and conclusions and practiced acting out our 'How To' books with our writing partners. We used our partners in reading as well to practice retelling stories to each other, and we explored the uses of rocks in our very first trip to the Science Lab.
Overall, it has been a busy and wonderful week. We are continuing to work on the ASD values in class, especially with regards to following the instructions of all of our teachers the first time.
Next week, we will be administering the GATES standardized literacy assessment. Please be sure your child is well rested and has a healthy breakfast, snack, and lunch to be best prepared.
We also have some important changes in dismissal procedures and library access due to our ongoing campus improvement projects coming up next week. Here are the details.
The Elementary Library will be moving temporarily to the rectangular portion of the Elementary School Cafeteria. Students will be able to check out double the amount of books for the next week and library classes will be held in students classrooms during this transition. The library will be operating on a smaller scale for the remainder of the school year. We thank you for your patience and understanding while our brand new library is being built.
New Dismissal Procedures
Starting Sunday Lower Elementary Students will be dismissed from the round portion of the elementary cafeteria. Please look for your child classroom teacher and stand clear of the door ways so that students will be able to enter safely and quickly. Upper Elementary students will be dismissed outside of the cafeteria in the tree court yard. We ask that parents continue to walk around the outside of the buildings to get to the cafeteria.
The blog has been updated with pictures from the week.
