7th & 8th Grade Junior Leadership Class
Is your 7th or 8th grader looking for a way to be more involved in Vista Oaks? Junior Leadership may be the answer! Middle School Leadership students have a very important job and make many decisions for our enrichment program. While being a part of the team is a serious responsibility, it is also a lot of fun and a great way to work with many different students and staff members at Vista Oaks. The purpose of Student Leadership is to make Vista Oaks a better place for all students. Junior Leadership Team will be student led by a small group of officers that are chosen by a panel of school staff after class begins. Meetings are held on Thursdayafternoons at 2:15 to 2:45. Our first meeting will be on September 28 in room 12. If you have any questions, please contact Amy (amy.morganstein@vistaoaks.net)
Vista Oaks Reads!
Would you like to read great books and be rewarded for it, too? Here’s what to do:
1. Pick out a book at your reading level (ask your parent or teacher for help finding a book at just the right level).
2. Read it (the best part!).
3. Write a book review and complete book review checklist. Do your best—this review will stay with the book for other students to read.
4. Turn it in to the wall file in the leveled library with your name, teacher’s name, date, and your choice of reward.
5. Your teacher will get a copy of your work and give you your certificate (one per month).
Do your children love news articles and you need kid-friendly versions?

This website has an amazing mapping interface. Students click the subjects they are interested in, and it opens up a map of different subjects that apply. These are social science and science articles. You have to sign up. It's free for limited content.
This is a Smithsonian website. You ca assign specific articles to your children, they read them, take a quiz, and answer a critical thinking question.
