Our Work From This Week
Look What We Did This Week
Writing- This week we worked hard on putting the finishing touches on our books. We will be starting a new book this next week to practice all the things we have learned this year.
Math- Kindergarten students started looking at teen numbers this week. We noticed that the numbers in the teen have a group of 10 ones and some extra ones. We noticed it is easier to count if we make a group of ten and then count the ones (10 and 6 is 16).
Social Studies- We have learning about the different kinds of maps this week and how makes are helpful.
Upcoming Events
May 3 - Diversity Council art exhibit in the Crossroads (106 Southwest Blvd)
May 7- Plays at 2:30
May 15 - Kindergarten Field Trip (More details to come, we still don't know if parents can come but we will let you know)
Map 17 - Maplewood Carnival
May 20 - Field Day
May 22 - Talent Show at 9am
Field Trip!!!
We are going to IDEA Space KC in Leawood. This is a maker space lab that will allow our students to explore maps in a more hands on way.
If you would like to enter the raffle to be our student's class parent volunteer please let us know on the field trip form that is going home today. Parents are responsible for their own transportations and lunch. We are also asking that parents find care for any younger sibling they care for so that you can enjoy the day with their Kindergarten. Each kindergarten classroom is allowed to bring one parents with them.
EACH student needs to complete a liability waiver. There is a QR code on the permission slip form or you can clip this link. Student can not come without this being filled out. Please let us know if it doesn't work.

Summer School is all four weeks of June from Monday through Thursday, with the exception of the third week of June. The week of June 17th, we will have in person learning on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday & virtual learning on Friday. This is to ensure that we are honoring Juneteenth on Wednesday.

Summer Adventure Club is available for before and after school care. If you have questions about this, please contact the Adventure Club main office.
To enroll your student in Summer School, please login to your parent portal in PowerSchool and click “NKCSD Summer Enroll”. This is where you will choose your students transportation for the summer. There will be more information and specifics about this in the parent gazette.
