- Athen boys went to school and learned how to read , write , and do arithmetic
- At age 18 boys got out of school and became citizens
- When women became married they stayed home to teach their own dautghters

- One teacher taught Athen boys how to read , write , and do arithmetic
- A second teacher taught Athen boys how to play sports
- A third teacher taught them how to sing and play a stringed instrument called the lyre
- Only in some wealthy family's did girls learn how to read , write , and play the lyre
Location
- The Athens are located northeast of Sparta , if you were to walk it would take about two full days to get to Sparta

- Athens was one of the most powerful city's in Ancient Greece
- Athens was also the first of the Greek city states to fully develop a democracy
- Athenians were more interested in building a democracy than building a military force
