It has been a great week at Sloan Creek. We have been busy planning for upcoming events and are excited to get final details worked out for our Glow Social on January 27th, Bump up Day on February 3rd and camp February 8-10th.

Also, did you know it is School Board Appreciation Month?! We are so excited to have Jeff Wood, school board member, join Sloan Creek for a few events this month. You may even hear some of your kiddos talk about him passing out birthday donuts tomorrow. We are so appreciative of his service to Lovejoy and are excited to have him join us and live a little bit of Sloan Creek Life.

Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).

Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. Let's GLOW!

We're so excited to host our first-ever SCIS dance/social! The theme for our party is neon/glow, so wear your best neon or glow-in-the-dark attire. Both gyms will be open for this event. One gym will have a DJ for those who want to show off their moves, and the other will be open for those who just prefer to play. We will also have concessions and a photo booth for some added fun. Below are additional details.

Tickets: $10 (ticket ONLY)

$15 "Glow Package"- Includes ticket, 2 slices of pizza, and 1 water or gatorade.

Tickets can be bought at the door, however, no Glow Packages can be purchased at the door.

Annual Bump Up Day is to take place on February 3, 2023.

Sloan Creek Intermediate, Willow Springs Middle School, and Lovejoy High School will host 4th, 6th, and 8th graders on Friday, February 3, 2023, for Lovejoy ISD’s Annual Bump Up Day. Bump Up Day was created to assist students with transitioning to a new campus and to help generate excitement for the new experiences they will have. Students will travel to the campus they will be attending for the 2023-2024 school year and have the opportunity to tour the campus, ask questions, and eat lunch. Students will be able to charge lunch and any a la carte/snacks purchases to their lunch account during their visit to their Bump Up school. Please make sure funds are available in your student's lunch account. Lunch prices for students visiting Sloan Creek Intermediate School or Willow Springs Middle School will be $4.00 for a regular meal or $4.75 for a premium meal. Lunch prices for students visiting Lovejoy High School will be $4.50 for a regular meal or $5.25 for a premium meal. A la carte/snack prices vary. Please refer to this document for specific pricing.

We are so excited to announce that our 5th Graders will be traveling to Sky Ranch for 5th Grade camp this year! Camp will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023 to Friday, February 10, 2023. The cost of camp is $265.00 per person. The full payment is due December 15, 2022.

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Lovejoy ISD has adopted the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for use during critical and emergency situations, and includes: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.

Lovejoy ISD has also adopted the Standard Reunification Model (SRM) for use during reunification of parents and students following an incident.

District and campus personnel receive training on the SRP at the beginning of each school year. Each campus also conducts specific emergency drills and training each semester, as well as fire drills throughout the year, to reinforce emergency preparedness.
