Mrs. Badgett's Weekly Update
Week of November 30th
We completed the first part of Project Lead the Way. Please watch our video of some of our highlights from the first section. We live streamed our cars carrying our eggs down the ramp and hitting the wall through Periscope. The students thought it was awesome that they had people watching what was happening in our classroom.
Reading
We are explaining the relationships between events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, based on specific information in the text.
Your child will also be reading a novel, based on his/her reading level, with a small group of students. We are working on answering higher-level questions over our reading by analyzing, evaluating, and creating.
We will also be reading passages. Please reference Canvas to view the articles. There is a link to Canvas below.
Math
We will continue with Unit 5 (Big Numbers, Estimation and Computation) this week. The students were assessed on their multiplication. Some of the students made A LOT of growth. Thanks so much to all that are practicing at home. I can definitely tell!! We use the app "Multiplication Genius" in class to practice!
Writing
We are continuing with our persuasive essays. Last week, we took a break from our essays we were writing. Instead, we became turkeys and had to persuade families not to eat us as their Thanksgiving meals. I have attached a couple writings as pictures for your reading pleasure!
Homework
Your child will have homework each night. The reading log is due on Friday. Also, MobyMax is a great website for your child to practice at his/her instructional level. The link is below.
