Parent/Carer survey
Here is the link to this Autumn’s Parent/Carer survey https://forms.gle/86t3nMTT6JT3coAZ8 We would be very grateful if you could spend a few minutes completing this. Your feedback is very important to us and will help us understand how our students are getting on, find out if they are enjoying their experience here at the College, how you - their Parents and Carers - feel things are going, what we are doing well, and where there are areas for improvement. The survey will close on Wednesday 11 November. Thank you.
COVID 19 - UPDATE/LATEST ADVICE
Students being sent home after developing possible Covid-19 symptoms
Following advice from Education Services, any of our students who need to be sent home due to having possible Covid symptoms, and their parents/carers, should read the information in the leaflets - links to which are below. These leaflets explain the situation and provide initial advice.
Letter for Parents/Carers of students sent home with possible Covid symptoms
Letter for Students/Apprentices sent home with possible Covid symptoms
Information in the leaflets will be updated as advice from Public Health changes, so please do read them if your son/daughter/ward is sent home with possible Covid symptoms, even if they were sent home last week or longer ago and you read the leaflets then.
Please also read the latest guidance (below) as this will be updated as and when advice from Education Services/Public Health changes.
Latest guidance
If anyone becomes unwell with any flu like symptoms (headache, muscle aches, blocked nose, fever, sore throat, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell) they must stay at home. Anyone developing symptoms at the College will be sent home immediately and advised to contact the Coronavirus helpline to arrange testing.
Symptomatic individuals should isolate on their own until they have received a negative test result. Young children will require a parent or carer to isolate with them. Assuming family members have no contact with the isolating child and parent/carer, they can carry on their activities as normal.

College News
College Equality & Diversity Group
Last Thursday (15 October) we ran a PDP session showing the film ‘The Hate U Give’ based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas in The Performing Arts Centre theatre to mark October being Black History Month.
Please remember if your son/daughter/ward is interested in joining the Equality & Diversity group and hasn't put their name down yet, they can still do so. Please ask them to contact lindseyh@gcfe.net
Public Services
Check out what our Public Services students have been up to recently. Our Year 10s have been taking part in starter activities including a game to re-cap on different job roles within the Public Services. We were impressed with Royal Marines!
Our Level 2 students have been creating their own physical activity sessions. Olivia, James and Reuben chose yoga and Joshua, Romeo, Ben and Jason developed their own cardio session including martial arts - using the kickbags, skipping, strength training and weights assessments. All of our Sport and Public Services students get free use of the fantastic facilities in our Fitness Suite. #lovelearning

Contacting You
The College’s preferred method of contact with parents and carers is via email. Please add the email address of your child/ward's course Customer Liaison Officer to your list of ‘safe senders’ or to your contacts list/address book to ensure communications from them arrive directly into your inbox, rather than going into ‘junk’ or ‘spam’.
As you will be contacted directly by the relevant CLO regarding events specific to your child/ward’s course/programme area, it is important that they have an up-to-date email address for you. Their details are listed below.
