Every Child...Together!
Welcome to the new school year!
Dear Families,
What an exciting time of year for our little learners. We are so excited to have the opportunity to share this year of school with your child. Coming to school may be a new experience for your child. You can help make this transition into school a bit easier by talking with your child about what to expect. There are lots of great books you can read with your child about coming to school. Help your child get a good night of sleep and breakfast or lunch before coming to school. The first couple of days may be hard as your child gets into the habit of coming to school. You can help your child get into a routine faster by sending them to school every day!
Wishing you well,
Dr. Sarah Birk, Principal of Liberty ECC

If your child will be absent…
Regular attendance is important to help your child make the most of this learning year in preschool. We understand children will miss occasionally due to illness or family emergency. When this happens, please call our attendance number and either speak directly to Ms. Debbie or leave a message.
To report an absence, please call 736-7020

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats must be pre-arranged with
the classroom teacher at least 24 hours prior to bringing a snack. NO CUPCAKES PLEASE! Treats
must come from our approved treat list that was distributed at ECC Back To School Night. If you need another copy, please request one from your classroom teacher. Also, we are not able to send party invitations home from school.
Reminders about the bus
- Children are NOT allowed to eat on the bus. Please be sure your child has time to eat their breakfast or lunch before you expect the bus to arrive.
- Any changes in bus transportation will require a minimum of 3 days to process. Remember, a change in your transportation address may impact your child's ability to have bus service. Since we serve the entire Liberty school district-addresses are routed either as an AM or PM attendance area.
- Make sure someone is available to meet the bus at pick-up and drop-off times. An adult must be present for the child to be released off the bus. Please see your parent handbook for additional information.
Safety and Security
Each month, our staff and students participate in a variety of emergency drills. These include fire, tornado, earthquake, and lockdown. Drills provide our staff and students an opportunity to practice what to do in the event of an emergency.
Safety and security of our students and staff is a priority for our Early Childhood Building as well as the Liberty School District. LPS security provides regular and routine patrols of all schools in the district. As the ECC is a Liberty Public School located in Kansas City, the LPS Security Staff and KC PD often partner to provide patrols or follow up on reports. Our staff is trained and encouraged to keep sharp eyes on our grounds. District protocol dictates that we report anything out of the ordinary to LPS security.

Conscious Discipline with Jill Molli
Conscious Discipline®, created by Dr. Becky Bailey, is a comprehensive self- regulation program that integrates social-emotional learning and discipline.
Come join us as Jill Molli shares information with parents about how to empower adults to consciously respond to daily conflict with children and transform it into an opportunity to teach children critical life skills. Jill is a national trainer for Loving Guidance/Conscious Discipline. Jill’s experience includes delivering state and national keynotes, teaching children with behavior disabilities, teaching elementary school and serving as a guidance counselor.
Parents who have attended in the past are certainly welcome and encouraged to join us again. It is beneficial to hear this information more than one time so that you can continue to grow in your understanding of how to support your child’s social/emotional development.
