Where Everyone Can Succeed
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
- It was very exciting to be part of the 3-6 and K-2 Assemblies during the past 2 weeks. It was amazing to see so many parents attend and so many students receiving the 'Going Strong' Awards.
- Thank you Miss Cook for coordinating the very successful Tuesday Breakfast Club. Thank you to the teachers who start work early every Tuesday to make this event a success.
- Thank you Mrs Queenan and Mr Lawrence for coaching the PSSA Soccer and Netball Teams. The Netball Team had a very successful Gala Day winning 7 out of 8 games. Unfortunately, the Soccer Gala Day was cancelled due to wet grounds.
- Please be mindful of parking signs and respectful of our local residents when parking around the school. Police have been notified by community members of cars parking across driveways and in the Glendore Childcare Centre carpark. Unfortunately, fines have been issued.
- Please keep an eye on your email for permission and payment links for up coming excursions including Stage 2 Tocal Excursion, K-6 Athletics Carnival and the Children's University Excursion
- Thank you Miss Griffiths for coordinating the whole school incursion of 'Sticks and Stones' which was enjoyed by both staff and students.
Mrs Simone White School Principal (rel) | Glendore Public School | Awabakal Lands |
Reducing the risk of illness this winter.
- All students, staff and their families should follow NSW Health’s advice to reduce the risk of not only COVID-19, but also other illnesses that may affect schools this winter such as the flu. Schools should reinforce the following NSW Health messages with their communities: 'Stay home if unwell'.
- Keep up to date with vaccinations – including the flu vaccine, which is available from your local GP, pharmacy or Aboriginal Medical Service. Flu vaccines are free for all children aged 6 months to under 5 years, or for a small charge for those aged 5 years and older.
- Get tested immediately for COVID-19 if you become symptomatic and isolate until you receive a negative result.
- Practice good hand hygiene by washing regularly with soap and water.
- Take a RAT before visiting vulnerable loved ones or going to large gatherings and events.
Thanks in advance for understanding!
- Year 1 readers and games will now be changed on Wednesdays!
- Borrowing Days and Times

- We still require a few more parents or caregivers to help exchange the Home Readers and numeracy games for our students. Please see the times above.
- These are extremely worthwhile programs which we are only able to continue to offer to students and their families if we have enough helpers.
- It’s a great idea to volunteer with a friend, or just volunteer to make a friend if you are new to the school.
- If you are interested, please email the school glendore-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
- In Week 6 we are started our 10 week challenge.

- All types of moderate to vigorous physical activities can count toward an award.
- Award levels for the 10 week challenge reflect the activity time of individuals.
- We would love your help with collecting any paperbark for NAIDOC Week activities.
- Any paperbark can be given to your child’s class teacher in a plastic bag.
- During Week 7, our Sports Ministers along with our Prime Ministers and Minister for Sport will be running a school wide Year 6 fundraising event during lunchtime (weather permitting).

- Breakfast Club has returned to Glendore Public School this term. It is held on Tuesday mornings outside of KC from 8:15am - 8:40am. If possible, we ask for a 50c donation towards the cost of the program.
- All students are welcome to attend each week. Students are still welcome to attend if they do not have a donation.
- It has been so wonderful to see so many students enjoying the food and socialising at Breakfast Club over the last 2 weeks.
- Thank you to Terri Carter at Canopy and Mrs Patterson and the GPS recycling club for their donations that allow us to run this initiative.
- Thank you also to our staff members who volunteer their time of a Tuesday morning.
- On Thursday 26th May, Glendore Public School acknowledged and celebrated National Sorry Day.
- All classes across K-6 participated in activities that deepened their understanding of the importance of Nation Sorry Day.
- National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute toward achieving reconciliation.
- This week, Glendore students have engaged in meaningful conversations and activities in classrooms in recognition of National Reconciliation Week.
- Students listened to stories, created art and shared their ideas about how they can ‘Be Brave Make Change’ in order to move forward as a nation strengthened by respectful relationships.
- Brainstorm Productions performance of ‘Sticks and Stones’ was a big hit with K-6 students last week at Glendore.
- The fun and inclusive student wellbeing program reinforced positive relationships and supported children to build confidence and social and emotional skills.
- The performance encouraged safe and positive behaviour, cooperation, impulse control, boundaries and respect.
- When things go wrong in Toby’s life, or he feels frightened or threatened, he gets all churned up inside. His body tells him to fight, and his dad, kids at school and video games tell him to fight. He is always in trouble and unhappy at home and at school.
- When Toby meets his mentor Joe, he breaks the habit, takes responsibility for his own actions and develops positive relationships. He learns to stop, breathe, put his hands in his pockets, walk away, count to ten and talk about his feelings.
- He stands tall, becomes assertive and cooperates with other kids to create a circus routine with acrobatics, uni-cycling and juggling.
- Thank you to Isaac and James from Brainstorm Productions for coming and putting on a fantastic show for Glendore.
- The first PSSA Gala Day for 2022 saw our Junior and Senior teams play four games against schools in the Crossroads Zone - Barnsley, Edgeworth Heights, Cardiff South, and Maryland Public Schools on Friday 27th May.
- Glendore’s Junior team played extremely well and were winners of all four games (12-0, 22-0, 11-3 and 11-2).
- Our Senior team were successful in three of their games (22-15, 13-3, 13-16 and 18-7), only going down against Cardiff South in a remarkably close match.
- Thanks also to the dedicated parents for all their support and to Miss Maher for being Mrs Queenan’s assistant coach!
- Mrs Queenan was impressed by the incredible effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork that all players demonstrated and is immensely proud of the girls.
- The teams cannot wait for the next Gala Day on Friday 10th June 2022.
- Due to the recent bad weather, our first Gala Day of the 2022 PSSA Soccer Crossroads Cup was unfortunately cancelled.
- Our next scheduled Gala Day will be held during Term 2, Week 7, Friday 10th June 2022.
- Please remember Parents/Caregivers are responsible for their own child's transportation to and from the Gala Days at Stevenson Park Soccer Fields, Mayfield West NSW 2304, Australia.

- Students across 3-6 were acknowledged with Gold and Silver 'Going Strong' Awards.

- Congratulations to all K-2 students who received their Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond Awards at our K-2 Assembly. Keep up the fantastic work!

- Our hard working School Crossing Supervisor makes sure our students when using pedestrian crossings safely and sensibly. Mrs Garner, Kobe's mum, wrote to Sonia Hornery to tell her about our amazing School Crossing Supervisor, Darrell Bullen.
- Darrell has been a School Crossing Supervisor for about 16 years, with 10 of them being at Glendore. The students all absolutely love him and he loves interacting with the students and their parents.
- He goes above and beyond every day. He is always so happy, friendly and positive. Thank you, Darrell for the positive energy that you bring to the job.

- We hope the following information explains the enrolment process and outlines important dates and details within our Kindergarten Transition Program at Glendore Public School, a school whose vision is: "Where Everyone Can Succeed".
Documentation Required:
- The following documentation is required to finalise enrolment and also explained in detail on our Kindergarten Enrolment Checklist. (See PDF below) Please ensure all documentation is included in your enrolment application prior to submitting it to the school office.
- Application to Enrol -online https://education.nsw.gov.au/parents-and-carers/going-to-school/enrolment/online-enrolment-for-nsw-public-schools or Click here to download printable version.

- Now that most activities and events are back to normal we are going to reintroduce 'The Glendore Superstar' back into the newsletter and on Facebook.
- If your child/children are involved in a very special event eg: State Touch football or receive bronze in Nationals etc then we would love to know.
- Please email glendore-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au some photos and 100 words explaining why your child is a superstar and we will publish articles throughout the term.
- In the newsletter for the rest of the term we are going to include a Community Section where we will add business cards of families who have business.
- We are a wonderful Glendore Community and this is one way we can support each other.
- Please email a PDF of the business card to glendore-s.school@det.nsw.edu.au
- We will rotate the business cards regularly.
- We have received several questions from the students about when ice blocks and treats will be available to purchase from the canteen.
- Unfortunately, due to the lack of volunteers the canteen currently has, we are unable to offer the students the chance to purchase anything at lunch time.
- In order to have counter sales (ice blocks and treats) return we need to have at least two volunteers (plus the supervisor) in the canteen daily.
- The Canteen prepares between 60-200 lunch orders which means we don’t have enough hands to serve the kids ice blocks and continue pre-paring lunches.
- Any amount of time you have available to help in the canteen means counter service could return soon.
- Thank you for your ongoing support, this term is already looking like a busy one with over 1,300 orders including 3,000 chicken crackles, 120 loaves of garlic bread and 150 homemade meals!
- Volunteers will be preparing basic food including sandwiches, rolls and snacks. Proof of double COVID-19 Vaccination is required and a completed Appendix 5 volunteer form is required from the Admin Office.
- Safe food handling and hygiene procedures will be explained and implemented.
- Please contact the Office if you can volunteer at Canteen.
- Phone: 02 4955 6644
- Email: glendore-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
- Many thanks to our P&C volunteers who invoice and pack our uniforms for our families.
- Unfortunately, they do not have a physical shop for the collection of uniforms. Please disregard the due date on your invoice and allow 21 days for delivery from the supplier should items not be in stock at time of ordering.
- The orders will be filled by our P&C volunteers on a regular basis and items delivered to your child's classroom.
- When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.
- Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:
- meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation.
- includes items that are affordable, comfortable and -made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics.
- is appropriate for the full range of school activities.
- is suitable for all body shapes.
Information located on our online sites should assist.
If not, please contact the school office to make a time to:
- a) Talk to your child's classroom or support teacher if education related, or
