Summer Happenings

Happy May!

What a year it has been! You have collaborated, created, and connected! You have read, reorganized, and re-imagined! You have done it all this year, and it is my hope you will take some much earned time to rest, recover and re-energize.

Professional Learning Opportunities

TexQuest Trainings

If you are wanting to improve your knowledge of any of the TexQuest resources, check out the TexQuest Training Calendar. Texas educators can attend any of these sessions at no cost, regardless of the ESC hosting the training. Share this calendar with others on your campus who might be interested in learning more about these valuable resources. It could be a great option for summer learning!

Leveraging Canvas Conference June 15, 2022

Sessions will include teaching and learning innovations along with tools and technologies, providing participants with opportunities to learn from their peers and experiment with new and different applications. TexQuest Resources

TexQuest Content Customization

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) works with its vendors to continuously improve the electronic resources offered through TexQuest and the tools to implement and customize those resources. Currently, districts/charters may curate TexQuest e-resources at the resource level and determine what resources will be offered. There is no requirement that every TexQuest resource must be available to every student. Now, districts/charters may further curate Gale resources to meet local needs as detailed in their local collection development policies and processes.

The decision to customize content must be made at the district level as it will impact all resources. Please reach out to TexQuest Support if you have questions about any of the resources.

DEX for 2022-2023

All Region 11 districts and charters who take the Instructional Solutions and Support contract will have Discovery Education Experience for the 2022-2023 school year. This is exciting news as there are some engaging features that teachers and students will have access to such as quizzing, VOOKS, and ready-to-use activities. As you prepare for this new platform, consider joining us for one of the upcoming Discovery Education sessions!

Technology Resources Education Consortium

In addition to serving librarians in Region 11, our ESC also manages a state-wide consortium for Destiny Library and Resource Manager. Through a partnership with Follett, we host services for more than 140 districts and charters across the state. Benefits for our members include hosted services, ongoing training and support, access to an eBook catalog, and more.

Many of our Region 11 districts are already TREC members, but if your district/charter is not and you are interested in learning more about TREC, you can take a look at the TREC website if you have questions or would like a cost estimate of joining TREC, email sford@esc11.net.
