This past Monday evening, I presented to the Board of Education our MSIP 5 standings. The fifth revision of the Missouri School Improvement Program is the state’s accountability system for reviewing and accrediting public school districts. It outlines the expectations for student achievement with the ultimate goal of each student graduating ready for success in college and careers.
Missouri’s Top 10 by 20 plan holds as a primary goal that all students will graduate high school college and career-ready. To measure progress towards this goal, and to distinguish among school and district performance, the department computes an Annual Performance Report (APR) score for each district. This overall score is comprised of scores for each of the MSIP 5 Performance Standards (1) Academic Achievement (2) Subgroup Achievement (3) High School Readiness (K-8 districts) or College and Career Readiness (K-12 districts), (4) Attendance Rate and (5) Graduation Rate (K-12 districts). Districts receive points for each standard. There are 140 points possible for K-12 districts. The APR is represented by a percentage of points received out of the points possible.
If you are interested in more details as to how these numbers are determined and/or how Clinton or other districts scored the percentages listed below, you can look at the DESE website as all of this information is public accessible. Or, if you would like I would be glad to stop by and share this information with you.

Payroll and Benefits Info from Emily Brown
I’ve received quite a few emails asking if completing a Health Risk Assessment on the 12th of January is a requirement. It is NOT a requirement that you sign up and complete the HRA. However, if you don’t, you will not be active in the Wellness Program. There are a TON of benefits of participating in our Wellness Program. And between you and me…this is the first time I have been excited about the Wellness Program offered to our district!
I know you guys have a ton to juggle throughout the day and taking the time to complete something that is normally not on your to-do list is hard to manage. However, please look to see if you could squeeze in 15 minutes of your time in the morning of the 12th. I do believe it will be worth it!
As always, please reach out to me (best way is email) if you have any questions or concerns!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Emily
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A CARDINAL
The CECC Family
Submitted by: Jill Ragan, Clinton Early Childhood Center Teacher and Director
While engaged in a book study, Clinton Early Childhood staff were reminded that the school climate is an essential factor in building a successful school. This has inspired us to be more diligent in connecting as a school family. To create and maintain an optimal school climate all members of the school family need to feel safe and loved. Here at CECC we pride ourselves in modeling a healthy family atmosphere to promote an optimal learning environment and to support our students’ development. The staff are excellent role models and foster respectful relationships with the families they partner with. The connectedness they have with their students is evident in everything they do. Every student is safe and feels a sense of belonging as a member of the healthy family model that CECC provides. Whether it is in our preschool program or through our Parents as Teachers program, the bonds made between the students and their teachers are positive and long-lasting.
This is a powerful place to be and we continue to grow our school family by welcoming new staff members to serve our community. On November 1st, we welcomed two new faces to our Parents As Teachers program. I would like to introduce you to our Parent Educators and share a little quote from some of the families they serve.
Beth McKinney
I moved to Clinton from Holton, KS in the summer of 2009 with my husband and teenage daughter. Between growing up in an Air Force family and my husband's job with the USDA, I have moved often and lived in many places throughout my life. I have four grown children, two boys and two girls, and two (soon to be three) grandchildren. They are all the light of my life! I love working with children and families and have done so as a volunteer for Girl Scouts for eight years and by also working in other school districts where I have lived. When moving to Clinton, I worked almost six years as an Early Head Start teacher before coming to work with Parents as Teachers in August of 2016. I love my job and the families I am lucky to get to know and work with.
“Beth is great! She comes here and brings my kids and I stuff. She contacts me to invite us to things and reminds me before our meetings. She wants to know what my kids are interested in for the games she brings.”~Telsa
Molly Hulsey
I am a new Parent Educator for the Clinton School District. I spent 9 years as an ABA therapist for children with autism. I was raised in Clinton and I’m a 2004 Clinton High School graduate. I spent the last 8 years in California and I am so excited to be back HOME, to raise my children in my hometown. I am a mother of three beautiful children, Millie, Brian and Hannah. I look forward to meeting all of our PAT families and working in this wonderful community.
“I loved having Molly come for our PAT visit. My kids immediately loved playing with her and she made them feel really comfortable! She was very knowledgeable about the development of my 2 year old and listened to my concerns. We discussed strategies I could use to increase her speech and language skills. She even brought activities for them to play with as well as activities for them to do when she left! I look forward to our next visit.” ~Jamie
Judi Honeywell
I have been a Parent Educator with Parents As Teachers for the past 6 years. I have been working with young children since 1992. I worked for Head Start as a teacher, home visitor and supervisor. I have two grown sons and two beautiful daughter-in-laws. I have two grandsons, Nico and Dima, they are who keep me young. My husband and I built a home on Truman Lake in 2006, where we enjoy fishing and four-wheeling. My passion is working with children to make sure they are developmentally on target for their next learning environment.
“My family was in the Parents as Teachers program for over 5 years. My educator made sure that my kids were on target for learning standards, helped introduce fun ways to learn, and really cared for my kids. She also helped my daughter with her speech problem by evaluating and recommending where to go. She really cares about what she does and the children.
Thank you so much.” ~Denise
As evidenced by the statements from the families they serve, these ladies are passionate about educating young children and their families. They are a vital part in helping us grow and stay connected to other early childhood educators in our community. We are thrilled they chose to become a part of our school family.
