Manitou Springs High School
Mustang News - October 15th, 2021
From The Principal...
A fall chill is in the air, and we've reached the end of the first quarter at Manitou Springs High School. It is hard to believe that we are 1/4 of the way through our school year!
Several of our students took the PSAT this week and familiarized themselves with the format and types of questions that they will face on the SAT. This “dry run” tends to help students feel less nervous when taking the SAT. These preliminary exams also highlight strengths and any areas of improvement that students should focus on prior to the SAT.
We have sent out information for our upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences (taking place on October 21st and 22nd), so please be sure to sign up for a virtual meeting with your student's teachers. October 21st is an early dismissal day (with students out at 12:30) and there is no school on October 22nd.
Enjoy your weekend and the beauty of autumn in Manitou Springs.

Pre-Arranged Absences
If you are planning for your student to miss multiple days of school in a row, please have them request a Pre-Arranged Absence Form from the front office. This helps us to ensure that students and teachers have communicated before a family trip, college visit, etc.
Process for requesting a pre-arranged absence:
1. Parent or guardian will complete and sign the back of the form.
2. Student will take the form to each teacher to get assignments and signatures.
3. A school administrator must sign the form for approval five school days in advance.
Pre-Arranged absences will not be approved during the following circumstances:
1. District or State Assessment testing (parent can contact school office for dates).
2. During Quarterly Exams; the last two days of each quarter.
3. When requested absence would move the student into excessive absence status or student has surpassed the allowable number of absences.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping Manitou Springs High School maintain our goal of 95% attendance!
