Spring Race Prep Course
Prepare for the More Half... and more!
Running a full or half marathon this spring? We'll prepare you to reach the starting line healthy... the finish line happy... and future races at a new level of performance.
You've registered for the race, you've set your goal, and you've got your training plan. Let us help you bring your running form into balance so your spring half or full marathon can be the event that transforms you as a runner.
Whether you're aiming to PR or just to finish, The Balanced Runner™ will help you master the fundamentals of healthy, economical running and tune your form to the specific demands of your race so you can run your best. After the race is over you'll take what you've learned with you into every run and race for the rest of your life.
"Working with The Balanced Runner to improve my form was one of the best decisions I have made for my running. I changed not only the way I run, but how I move every day. This has freed me from pain that held back my running. My marathon times have improved greatly because I improved my form and economy, and eliminated painful practices that inhibited proper training. Not only did I take over 30 minutes off my time and qualify for Boston (my stated goal when I started working with Jae), but I re-qualified for Boston in Boston!"
The Balanced Runner™ Spring Race Prep Course includes four classes on Saturdays to help you learn to listen to your body and run each part of the course in a healthy, economical, and anatomically sound way, plus a one-on-one session with a member of the staff to address your specific needs.
Each class involves only a minimal amount of running, so you can schedule your weekly long run Saturday morning, then cool down, rehydrate and eat, and come to work with us for 90 minutes. Class topics include:
Schedule your one-on-one session after the first class so we can zero in on whatever you need the most.
Workshops with The Balanced Runner™ are like nothing you've ever experienced before. Experiential, relaxing, and transformative, we use the Feldenkrais Method of Movement Education® to allow you to connect deeply with your body and your sense of movement so you feel great and realize your potential as a runner. Our work is gentle enough to be safe for injured runners but potent enough to affect world-class runners such as distance-running powerhouse Jen Rhines.
We make sure you can feel what we're talking about before we talk about it, so come prepared to immerse yourself and we promise we'll answer all your questions by the end.

The Balanced Runner™
Developed by Jae Gruenke, GCFP, the Balanced Runner is a sophisticated, truly individualized approach to improving running form using the Feldenkrais Method of Movement Education®. Each session consists of a careful observation of how you are currently running, then a learning process structured to help you feel, step-by-step, how to reduce excessive tension and impact, use your joints properly, and find support, elasticity, and power. The learning format is low-stress, making it safe even for runners dealing with injury. Yet it is potent enough to impact runners performing at high levels.
If you are a competitive runner, Balanced Runner sessions and workshops will help you reduce imbalances, increase your economy, and improve your technical control. If you’re a beginning runner, you’ll get a solid grasp of the fundamentals. Whatever your current level, you’ll improve your performance.
