Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 27, Issue 23, February 4, 2020
From the PFC President
Aloha...
Normally, I take this space to write something upbeat about Thornhill, but this week I have an earnest plea.
Thornhill is in need of a carnival chair. We have made several appeals to our community for someone who is willing to oversee what is one of the most popular community events Thornhill puts on every year. However, because no one has volunteered, we are facing a situation that I hate to contemplate: possible cancellation of the carnival.
The good news is, carnival chairs from past years have created an easy plug-and-play template to follow, and veterans of the process can give you support and answer your questions--there just needs to be someone responsible for managing and delegating the to-dos, and we need to identify them as soon as possible. If you have been to Thornhill carnivals in past years, you know how fun it is, and it would be disappointing not to have one in 2020. Have fun and earn hero status at the same time!
If you are interested in becoming carnival chair, please contact either me at president@thornhillschool.org, or Becky Urbano, our vice president of support, at vpsupport@thornhillschool.org. The sooner we fill this position, the easier it will be to do, and the better it will be for our community.
And while I have you: Please join us for the next PFC meeting next Monday, February 10, from 6-7pm, followed by optional socializing at Taps & Takeout. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about the carnival and to get involved in general!
Mahalo,
Rex Crum

About the Thornhill Newsletter
The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Evie Nagy, at newsletter@thornhillschool.org by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances. It’s fine to include text in the body of the email with links and no formatting, and attach photos preferably as 150 x 150, 72 dpi JPG or GIFs only (not embedded in email or Word file). Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, brevity and clarity. Advertising and items not related to Thornhill are not accepted, as we need to keep the newsletter focused on need-to-know info for the community.
THANK YOU to everyone who submits articles and to PFC Board Members, Teachers, VP of Communications Erin Proudfoot, PFC President Rex Crum, and Principal Steve Daubenspeck. Member of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
