2017 Band Camp: Week 2!
What an amazing first week!
This year's Marching Band & Guard is off to an amazing start... with a week full of intense music and marching rehearsals, hard work, laughs, strikes and gutter balls, beads and black lights (and yes, a bit of exhaustion), things are moving right along and we are well on our way to being the best band we can be!
Let's keep going! Here's the rundown for what comes next:
August 21-25, Day-By-Day
Remember, attendance at Band Camp is mandatory and you are expected to ALWAYS arrive at least 15 minutes early so practice can start on time!
Monday, 8/21:
- 8:00 am -12:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm: NHSBPC Parents Meeting in the Lecture Hall @ NHS; this is a great opportunity to get a little more information about the upcoming season, meet your Board Members & ask any questions you may have! (This one is a little longer than usual - parent meetings will normally run from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm)
Tuesday, 8/22:
- 8:00 am - 12:00 pm: Full Band & Guard (Freshmen excused for NHS Orientation)
- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
Wednesday, 8/23:
- 8:00 am - 12:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- RSVPs for the End Of Band Camp Pool Party due to your Drum Majors or Blue Band Box. Remember, cash or check payable to "Cash" in an envelope with your name and "Party" on it!
Thursday, 8/24:
- 8:00 am - 12:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
Friday, 8/25:
- 8:00 - 12:00 pm: Full Band & Guard
- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Full Band & Guard Practice and Friday Night Under the Lights
- Parents should arrive for Friday Night Under the Lights between 6:30 and 7:00 pm... join us for a little fun & information, the opportunity to sign up for to chaperone and work with Pit Crew, a chance to purchase Band & Guard merchandise, and - by far best of all - to see a preview of our 2017 show!
- Participation fees ($550 less your deposit of $175) are due today. Checks should be made out to "NHSBPC" and may either be dropped in the Blue Band Box or given to Lisa Keeping (Treasurer) directly during Friday Night Under The Lights.
Saturday, 8/26: End of Band Camp Pool Party!
- 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm @ The Buzzi Homestead (Rain Date -- TBD)
Culinary Contributions...
- Freshmen and NMS band members: Appetizers or snacks
- Sophomores: Beverages (please bring a cooler with ice if you have one!)
- Juniors: Desserts
- Seniors - Side Dishes
Things to Bring...
- Instrument or guard equipment
- Music (along with extra reeds, oil, drumsticks, gloves, etc.)
- LOTS of water (labeled with your name) and/or sports drinks
- Nut-free Snacks
- Sunscreen, bug repellant
- Sunglasses and/or a baseball cap
- Sneakers/shoes suitable for marching - no flip flops!
- A "dot book" (small spiral notebook, approx. 3x5 inches), pencil and highlighter.
