Congratulations to Alyssa Bonfardeci (Treble Choir), Maggie Griffiths (Orchestra) and Alaina Pack (Band) who were selected to be among 719 of the finest high school musicians from Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont for their acceptance into the NAfME 2021 All-Eastern Honor Ensembles!
These 3 outstanding musicians were selected from 1150 All-State applicants and ranked by their state presidents to fill the ensembles. The students will be participating in a "Virtual Weekend” experience that will include keynote speakers, masterclasses with professional musicians, rehearsals with their conductors as well as opportunities to learn and network with colleges and universities of various types and participate in mock auditions.
This year, students will individually record their performance from home led by a virtual performance of their conductor. The recordings will be edited together to produce a virtual ensemble for the concert performance April 23 @ 8:30 pm.
Congratulations Bears!
Crochet Club
All crochet club members who have not picked up supplies for Project Linus should swing by Room 210 some time today to see Mrs. Carpenter. There are plenty of great colors remaining and with a nor'easter in the forecast this is a fantastic time to get crocheting! New members are always welcome so anyone interested in participating, including those new to the craft, are welcome to join in. After ripping out her square for the 7th time on Sunday, Mrs. Carpenter is back on track and happy to offer shaky instruction or of course you can stop by and see the craftier Mrs. Matzke, Larissa Mulholland, Sarah Vigliotti, Riley Ellis or Abby McAlpine for help!! Drone Class Visits 174th Fighter Wing
The first semester of the new Drone Technology course wrapped up last week with an exciting field trip to the 174th Attack Wing. Host Bear Alumni Sargeant Courtney Wilson took the “drone squad” all over the base where they saw the MQ9 Reaper UAS up close, learned about all of the many systems and visited with a range of personnel from the Wing. Students in the course are now ready to tackle the FAA Part 107 test so look for some new remote pilots in the building this spring!
