Newsworthy Notes

2020-2021

As our Mustangs return to school on Monday, August 17, 2020 things will look a little different, but the excitement, passion, and love for our Mustangs will be evident as each student returns to learn. 2020-2021 Student Schedules

We are working hard to finalize student schedules. We anticipate this will be complete by the end of the day on Friday, August 14, 2020. Student schedules will be printed and posted on the inside courtyard walls so students can see where they need to report 1st period. Schedules will also be printed and distributed to students during 1st period on the first day of school. We encourage students to take a picture of their schedule, or write it down, because we will not do a mass reprint.

Bus Transportation

  • The buses will run their normal routes this year
  • Student bus stops remain the same
  • CHS buses drop off near 31st street; students are expected to walk around to door 1 or 7 to gain entry to the building

Student ID Badges

  • Replacement ID badges cost $3 and may be obtained in the front office
  • A student may only have 1 outstanding ID badge charge at a time

Passing Periods & Hallway Traffic

  • Each passing period is 5 minutes
  • Most of our hallways are one-way and designated as such with signs that hang from the ceiling; if you see a "green light" you are going the correct direction, if you see a "stop sign" you are going the wrong direction
  • Some hallways support 2 way traffic and are separated by yellow tape on the floor, please stay to the right when walking
  • Always wear your mask and do not stop and congregate

Classroom Safety Procedures

  • Where possible, seating is spaced to allow for social distancing
  • Masks are to be worn at all times
  • Students are not allowed to share supplies
  • Students will wipe down both the table/desk top & seat with disinfectant spray before leaving the class
  • Hand sanitizer is available in all rooms and use is encouraged multiple times throughout the class period and day

  • You will need to bring your Chromebook & charger in order to exchange for a new Chromebook
  • Incoming freshman that have elected virtual learning this applies to you too; please bring the Chromebook & charger that was issued to you at your middle school and CHS will exchange it for a new Chromebook & charger

  • Mustangs are not allowed to use, or be on, cell phones during class
  • If a cell phone is seen or heard in class, the cell phone will be taken up
  • The teacher will turn the cell phone into the alpha attendance clerk in the front office
  • On the first occurrence, the student may get the phone from an assistant principal at the end of the instructional day at no charge (if the student was compliant and turned over the phone to the teacher without issue)
  • The second occurrence and beyond will result in the following: a $15 fee to the student if the student is picking up the phone, or no fee to the parent if the parent picks up the phone anytime during office hours (Monday - Thursday, 7:30 - 5:00 & Friday, 7:30 - 4:30)

  • CHS has reduced the total number of tables in the cafeteria and reduced the number of chairs at each table
  • Students may also eat lunch outside in the courtyard
  • QR codes have been laminated and taped to each table; students are expected to scan the QR code and enter their name on the list - this allows us to track where all Mustangs sit at lunch
  • Students are expected to wear their mask while in the serving lines
  • Students may remove their mask while eating
  • Once a student finishes eating they are expected to put their mask back on
  • CHS WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY FOOD DELIVERIES OF ANY KIND; THIS INCLUDES DROP OFFS BY PARENTS, UBER EATS, DOOR DASH, ETC.

  • CHS will provide students with at least 1 reusable cloth mask on the first day of school
  • CHS will provide students with a disposable mask when needed
  • Masks are to be worn at all times
  • Students who do not comply will be offered an opportunity to self-correct
  • Students who do not self-correct will be sent to the office and parent contact made
