WATERFORD WEEKLY

WATERFORD MISSION
At Waterford Elementary we believe in all students and staff learning and growing together; where innovation, diversity, and relationships are valued.
WATERFORD VISION
Waterford Elementary School
Goshen's Opportunity for a Productive Tomorrow
Choose Your Attitude, Make Their Day, Be Present, Play
Choose Your Attitude:
"Great teachers and leaders understand that in order to change student behavior we must first change adult behavior." - Todd Whitaker
Thanks to the IDEA Room staff for understanding this quote emphatically in order to help a student in their classroom! Way to go ladies!!
Make Their Day
Thanks Eliana for making the day of the 5th grade students and their parents/grandparents at Wednesday's parent luncheon. Please see pictures below.
Be Present
I really appreciate the police department's willingness to be present. Officer Powell does a great job working with some of our neediest students, and she is always willing to help out in many different types of situations. The last couple of weeks the K-9 officers have brought their dogs to schools for demonstrations. What a great way to get into the school and teach the students more about their jobs.
Play
For play this week, let's have some fun. Please caption the following picture of Julea and send it to Randy. The office staff will select the best one, and the winner will receive a $5.00 Brew Bucks card. Let's hear what you got!! :)

TLT Update
This week we began a unit of study on Post-Conferences. (This is a need recognized district-wide.) At Waterford, we saw a decrease from a 4 to a 3 in our NIET school review quantitative data on our post conference plans. We started our work by looking at the critical elements of a post conference and how we could deepen the elements in order to support learning rather than teaching. In the weeks that follow we will analyze teacher perceptions and determine how we can "marry" them with the critical element; in order to make adjustments in our post conferences to support teacher instruction through student learning.

TAP Updates -
Site Reviews: April 24th (GHS a.m. & Merit p.m.); May 1 (GMS a.m. and Waterford p.m.); and the other Elementary Schools-days TBD. Lisa Puckett will be following up with principals to get these scheduled). All agreed it will be great to have Jen conduct the site reviews, as she knows our past and present work.
TELL Survey Window - April 10 – May 15. Mark your calendars. In the next few weeks, as we receive information, we will forward it out to Principals.
TAP Attitude Survey – Dates TBD; Please stress the importance of completing this survey!
National Conference and June 1-2 district-wide workshop – There are 12 leaders attending the national conference; those attending are presenting at 3 different sessions. As a follow-up, we will be taking information learned at the national conference and turning that new learning into 2 days of workshops in lieu of TSW. We do have the dates of June 1 & 2 confirmed for this GCS TAP summer workshop to be held at WG Church of the Brethren. Please share this with your TLT members.
Summer School –
We have established the dates for summer school 2017: June 5 through June 22nd; 3 weeks; 4 days/week with extended days 7:30 – 1:30. This would be for elementary and middle school. At GHS the schedule and number of days may need to be a little longer because the courses are credit bearing. It is likely they will run summer school schedule from June 5 – June 29, four days a week.
Because of repairs to the wall at Chandler, those students will likely attend summer school at another elementary school. We will use hubs again for summer school transportation. The goal is to get summer school positions posted in early to mid-March.
