Summer Reading
Teacher book groups will read a variety of titles and meet to discuss when school starts. I will be reading The Parents We Want To Be by Richard Weissbourd . I'd love to talk with you about it!
Schedules and Drop/Add
There will be a drop/add opportunity on August 12.
Students who want to make changes should check their email for the Schedule Change Request form during July.
More Excellent Educators!
Rachel Lawrence is one of 100 US teachers selected to attend the Computer Science Teacher Summit at Facebook headquarters this summer, funded by the National Science Foundation and Facebook. This will allow her to engage with university professors, AP computer science teachers, Facebook staff, and College Board staff around best practices and insights on teaching computer science, industry research, and practical applications.
Both of these impressive opportunities will benefit Woods students, our programs, and our community.
Student Project: Classroom Plant Drive
Woods families are encouraged to help out and donate plants for Woods high school classrooms.
Encouraged Donations:
Chinese evergreen
Spider plant
Jade plant
Small fiddle-leaf-fig
ZZ plant
Snake plant
Small succulents
*Donations aren’t limited to these plants; any plant that is easy to care for and thrives in low light would be highly appreciated.
The drive will take place on the day before orientation. Plants will be dropped off in the labeled box in front of the school.
Plants reduce sickness and absences in school by lowering the amounts of carbon dioxide, as well as other toxins within the air. Plants relieve feelings of tension and anxiety by 37%, promoting focus in class.
