When do students have indoor recess/mornings?
It is important that you send your child to school dressed to be outside for 20 minutes of recess.
Must haves
- Hats
- Gloves
- Winter jacket
- Boots
- Snow pants
- Scarf
- Face mask
- Other items your child may need to stay warm
When every child at Franklin has a hat, a pair of gloves, a winter coat and a pair of boots, that's 6 items per child times 465 children for a total of 2,790 pieces of clothing. Chances are high that things will get dropped, misplaced or mixed up with other students' clothing. Labeling your child's clothing helps greatly.
What's the Minnesota Reading Corps?
Minnesota Reading Corps is a program through ServeMinnesota and provides struggling readers in Kindergarten through third grade with one-on-one attention from well-trained tutors. The students who work with MRC tutors are selected based on DIBELS data.
Franklin is very fortunate to have two tutors.
Tynetha Leandre just started and will be working with selected first through third grade students.
When will students take the winter DIBELS?
The information from this assessment will inform the instructional decisions for your child. We are able to see if students are making or exceeding the growth we expect for them. We will be able to make adjustments to the instruction that students are receiving to ensure that we are meeting their individual needs.
If you have questions about your student's DIBELS assessment, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
Where's that cookwear I brought to Franklin?
Who's been able to volunteer with PTO lately?
Thank You

What PTO events are planned for December and January?
December 5: Fundraising Committee Meeting, Franklin Media Center, 6:30 p.m.

December 13: Scoopie Night at Culver's (Madison Ave, Mankato), 5-8 p.m.
Give yourself a break from making dinner and dine at or get it to go from Culver's on Madison Ave. between 5 - 8 p.m. and 10% of the proceeds will go to Franklin Elementary School PTO.
January 9: Eat Wings, Raise Funds at Buffalo Wild Wings, Mankato, 5-9 p.m.

How will I know if school is delayed, dismissed early or cancelled due to weather?
To check information about school being delayed, dismissed early or cancelled, you can:
Call: The District Information Line at 386-4777. HINT: If you save it to your phone your kids can check it and not bother you at 6 am.
Watch: WCCO (Ch 4), KSTP (Ch 5), FOX (Ch 9), KARE (Ch 11), KEYC (Ch 12)

District text messages with reminders and announcements. You can receive text messages to remind you about things such as two-hour late starts and inform you of weather related changes. Subscribe using this link.
Please remember that ACES, our after school childcare program, does not operate when we close due to inclement weather.
