Ralph, our Benevolent Leader

by his humble and loyal minions Reece and A.J.

Support Ralph

Ralph represents the best of both worlds because he is intelligent unlike Jack, and he also has the strength Piggy lacks.

Ralph thinks of everyone as an equal

Ralph listens to people thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. He is kind and supportive of his fellow comrades.

This is why Ralph is the best out of the three

But don't just take our word for it! Listen to people's comments on Ralph!

"Jack strikes fear into boys knowing that is the only power he can have because Ralph is the leader" (Golding 93).

Piggy quotes this showing that Ralph is a far better leader than Jack.

The Narrator

"Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of the true wise friend called piggy..." (Golding 282).

Thus ends the story showing that Ralph is the only one who maintained his humanity.

The Narrator

"Every hand outside the choir except Piggy's was raised immediately. Then Piggy too raised his hand grudgingly into the air. Ralph counted. I'am chief then" (Golding 17).

This comment indicates that from the get-go everyone wanted Ralph for their leader.

"You're chief Ralph. You remember everything" (Golding 135).

This comment shows how Ralph is able to inspire admiration in others.

"A ship will be here. It might even be daddy's ship. So you see sooner or later we shall be rescued" (Holdings 28).

This quote shows that Ralph is optimistic and knows how to calm the children.

“Only, decided Ralph as he faced the chief’s seat, I can’t think. Not like Piggy” Golding (65).

This quote shows how Ralph is humble at heart and values his comrades.
