Miss Angie, Miss Jane & Miss Tara

Welcome back!

The first week back to school went great! I think we were all ready to get back into the school routine. We were actually able to get outside everyday last week. This weeks temperatures are a bit colder but hopefully it warms back up so we can get outside again next week. The 4 year old's go outside if the temperature is 20 degrees or above with the windchill. Please plan on bringing your child's winter gear everyday or make sure and check the temperature for the day before school. If checking the temperature, we go outside at 10:00 so make sure to check the temperature for that time. Please make sure to label all winter items, we have 19 pairs of hats, mittens, coats, snow pants and boot.s We don't want your child's stuff going home with the wrong person. This makes it easier on everyone. Thanks for your help. Please practice with your child to become as independent as possible with getting their winter clothing on. It is good practice for kindergarten as they will have to do 100 percent on their own next year.

The Mitten

This month we are learning about all things that relate to winter and about the book The Mitten by Jan Brett. This is one of my all time favorite units! We will re-tell the story, act it out, do a story sequence, do an animal patterning activity, talk about rhyming words, do a letter sound activity, talk about the different animal characters in the book and much more. We have some fun crafts planned as well. Should be a fun and exciting month.

Jolly Phonics

We are moving right along with our Jolly phonics. We are learning the sounds for letters

g, o, and l this month.

g : Spiral hand down, as if water going down the drain, and say g, g, g.

o : Pretend to turn light switch on and off and say o, o, o, o.

u : Pretend to be putting up an umbrella and say u, u, u, u.

l : Pretend to lick a lollipop and say l, l, l, l.

Please continue to practice these at home. We have started sounding out simple words so you could practice that as well. Ex: cat, pin, run, pot, fun
