IRISH DANCING

  • From the late 7th to 8th century both in Irelandand in the Irsih missions in Europe.
  • Known as the artwork survived & has influenced Irish dances costumes.
  • Started with the Celitic people {also know as the Gaels}.
  • Irish dancing originated from Ireland and Irish dancing which are divided into social dance & performances.
  • Danced by 4 couples arranged in a square while dances are danced by varied formations of 2 to 16 people.

  • An evil magician, had very strong and dark powers.
  • In some tales said that he was badly deformed or a small dwarf.
  • Ruled a small kingdom, Derry{whenever Ireland was broken up into small kingdoms and ruled by Chieftains who usually fought with each other.}
  • Abhartach{Avartagh} got killed by the Chieftains.

  • Irish immigrants played a big part in early Texas History, because of a Carrot and Stick situation.
  • "Stick"- The political and religious; they were suffering at home.
  • "Carrot"- An area with enormous natural resources.
  • After, The Battle of Kinsale, Ireland in 1602. Which they got defeated by the English.
  • One of the first sons of the Emerald Isle who played a part in early Texas History was, Hugh O' Connor, bornin Dublin, in 1734.
  • He was one of those who escaped to Spain, and later as Hugo O' Connor he served as the Spanish Governor of Texas from 1767-1770.
  • 87 Irish- surnamed individuals settled in the Peter's Colony. Which included much of Present Day of North Central Texas in the 1840's.
