Important update from the principal
This is a message for parents and guardians of students at Sandburg Regional High School.
I’m sharing information with all parents and guardians that you may hear about from your student or in the community. All students and staff are safe.
School administration was made aware that a sulfur-like pungent odor was noticed by staff upon arrival this morning. The school district worked with crews from Centerpoint Energy to investigate the odor and determined that the source of the odor was coming from outside the building and did not pose a safety threat. School will continue as usual today and conferences will remain scheduled for this evening.
The cause of the odor is from an exterior gas meter. This meter has since been turned off and is being repaired by Centerpoint Energy. In the meantime, the building is being heated by an alternate fuel source.
Ensuring the safety of students and staff is the first priority of Sandburg Regional High School. Thank you for your understanding and support regarding this situation.
Sincerely,
Heather Forse, principal
Sandburg Regional High School
