PROFESSIONAL LEARNING TEAMS
What Makes a Good PLT?
Members of effective PLTs are driven by inquiry and willing to engage in honest discussions about their practice and students' progress. Furthermore, PLT members must be open to reflection and willing to make changes in their approach in the interest of improving student outcomes.
Take a minute and email an encouraging word to your PLT members or tell them something new that you've tried with your students! Go ahead----they are worth your time!
CONNECTING WITH STUDENTS
Positive teacher-student relationships are vital to student learning. Here are three reflection questions to ponder as we approach the end of the first quarter:
- Are the relationships that I have with my students helping or hindering their ability to learn?
- Can I explain at least SOMETHING about each of my student’s personal lives?
- Was my demeanor and attitude towards my class today effective for student learning?
CONNECTING WITH PARENTS
As we travel deeper into the 1st quarter of learning, we get closer to report cards and parent teacher conferences. Effective educators know that conferences shouldn't be the first interaction with parents. A working partnership can be established from the beginning through conversations and most probably, emails.
This resource can be of great assistance when teachers are faced with that T-R-I-C-K-Y correspondence. Check it out! You'll be glad you did!
