The Woolly Mammoth
Obituary
My friend, Wilbur, the Woolly Mammoth, was also known as Mammuthus Primigenius. He lived in North America and spent vacation time in Eurasia with relatives. He lived during the Ice age in Cenozoic Era which was around 10,000 years ago. Wilbur was one of the oldest mammoths in the world. At the time of his death, he was 70 years old.
During his life, Wilbur hung out in cold areas with his friends. His favorite place to live was the Arctic tundra region. He was covered with fat as well as brown fur to keep him warm. Wilbur was very proud of his tusks which he used for digging, collecting food, and also fighting his enemies. But Wilbur did not have very many enemies.
Wilbur liked to eat at the Fruit Cup where he liked to eat huge salads of plants, fruits, nuts, twigs, and berries. Wilbur married Wendy and they had three children: Steve, Mike, and Olivia.
The cause of Wilbur the Woolly Mammoth’s extinction was due to change in the climate, his habitat disappeared and hunting by humans. His closest relatives are modern day elephants.
