This weeks spotlight is on Belle River Elementary. Great things are happening at Belle River Elementary and we are excited to share some of those great things in this newsletter.

Mrs. Robbins is Awarded Grants

Mrs. Kelly Robbins, Belle River teacher, was awarded two classroom grants recently. Mrs. Robbins was awarded the $100 Meemic Back to School grant. She also received a $50 Pets in the Classroom grant to support their classroom Guinea Pig. Congratulations Mrs. Robbins!

Kindergarten Camp A Success and our "Free Little Library"

Belle River Kindergartners enjoyed their first week learning the ABC's of Kindergarten. Students spent time with each teacher and new groups of friends every day of the first week. By Friday, we knew a lot about our new friends and were so excited to introduce them to their Kindergarten Teacher for the 2018-19 year. Our special Title One staff joined forces with the Kindergarten teachers to make this a fun and successful experience. We are so lucky to have such a great TEAM!

A great big THANK YOU to RESA for donating our "Free Little Library" and a special THANK YOU to Mark Herr for donating his time and materials to install it at Belle River. It is so exciting to offer our students another avenue for discovering great books! Thank you so much.

As we start the 2018-19 school year we would like to remind you that your child's attendance is important to us. Please work with your child and his/her teacher to help your child develop strong attendance. Your enthusiasm is a big boost to success.

Missing 10% of school can make it harder to learn to read. Students can fall behind if they miss just a day or two days every few weeks. Arrive on time so as not to miss a single minute of instruction. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Start building this habit early so children learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work.

Some things you can do at home

  • Set a regular bed time and morning routine
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before
  • Don't let your child stay home unless she is truly sick
  • If your child seems anxious to go to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents on advice on how to make them feel more comfortable and excited about learning
  • Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent
  • Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session

Together we can achieve strong attendance!

They Are Committed!

Marine City High School Seniors have signed their name committing themselves to graduating in June of 2019. Way to go Mariners!
