Culture Travel Week January 2019 - South Korea!
During the week of January 14-18th, students will explore the culture, history and traditions of South Korea through food, art, handicrafts, informational videos, music and more. If you have any Korean artifacts, art pieces, or items about Korea to display during Culture Travel Week, please contact us.
Look out for a volunteer Sign-Up Genius in December. We will need many volunteers from each classroom to make this event a success! Contact Grace Lee at gracelee331@gmail.com or Marlise Scotti at bobberpdx@yahoo.com with any questions.
National Geography Bee
The Fourth and Fifth Graders will have an opportunity to participate in the National Geography Bee. Students will begin with a classroom competition in November to see who will qualify for the semi-finalist school bee. We will have the semi-finalists’ competition assembly in January. The finalist will take an online exam to qualify for the state competition. Interested students can visit the following website to view information about the study corner. https://www.nationalgeographic.org/bee/study
Scripps National Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee will also be offered for spellers at fourth and fifth grades. Students can find a list of books that contain the words for this year at https://spellingbee.com/book-list.
The classroom competition will be the week of December 17. The private final competition will be in January.
FH Yearbook: Take Great Pictures!
FH Yearbook: Take Great Pictures!
The FH yearbook is a beautiful record of our children’s experiences, accomplishments and friendships over the course of the school year. It wouldn’t be what it is without the help of all of you who take pictures at events and send your pictures into the school. The Yearbook Committee has provided some really helpful tips for taking great pictures on the PTO website’s What’s New page. Please take a look, and keep taking those pictures!
Box Tops
Weather Appropriate Attire (Repeat)
The rain is here! Although we have indoor recess options for heavy rain days, we go outside for misty and light rain. Please send your child to school in weather appropriate attire. A raincoat is a must!
Foreign Language Questionnaire for Parents (Repeat)
As a part of Forest Hills' ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive school environment, we would like to begin utilizing the incredible language skills of our community. If you speak, write, or read a language other than English and would like to use these skills to support Forest Hills, please take this survey.
Foreign Language Questionnaire
Each individual who speaks a foreign language should fill out this questionnaire separately. This form is setup to accept up to three foreign languages per individual. If you know more than three foreign languages, please fill the form out again!
Sign Up OBOB Teams Now Until 11/16 (Repeat)
If your 3rd, 4th or 5th grader is planning to participate in Oregon Battle of the Books this year, please take a few minutes to register them by filling out the Google Form on the PTO website. Besides the signup form, you'll also find the book list, background on OBOB and a book division worksheet. Only one parent from each team needs to sign up the members of the entire team. Questions? Contact Kristy Cory or Leslie Radakovich.
