WOW!!!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful gifts! You all spoiled me! :-) The gift card will be going towards an apple watch that I have been wanting. YEAH!! :)

I hope that you and your family has a blessed vacation! I hope that you have lots of amazing time to just relax and spend with your loved ones. I am very much looking forward to spending time with my family in California, taking Elsa to Disneyland for the first time and watching the PCEP marching band march in the Rose Parade!

Conferences

It was a pleasure talking to all of you about your kiddos. I am truly blessed to get to work with an amazing group of students. They are chatty, but I love them dearly. Don't forget to shoot me an email or call if you have any questions or concerns about your kiddo.

Community Service Project = Blanket Making

In January the kids will be making blankets to donate to a local organization. When we return to school in the New Year I'll send home a note with all the details. But kids will need to bring in $8. Please have your kiddo work for the money in some way over vacation.

DON'T FORGET! Free Passes for 4th Graders

Please click the links to these FREE opportunities to 4th graders!

4th & 5th graders ski free in Michigan -- A flier came home today in your kids Friday Folder about this! The Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) wants to give Michigan kids an opportunity to get out, have fun and get healthy this winter. This is why MSIA has established a state-wide program that provides every 4th and 5th grader the opportunity to ski for free. Students can obtain a “Cold is Cool” Ski & Ride Passport that gives them up to three free lift tickets or trail passes at 30 participating ski areas, plus additional discounts on the slopes and in Michigan ski shops. Mt. Brighton is on the list!!

National Parks Program - Beginning September 1st all kids in the fourth grade have access to their own Every Kid in a Park pass at www.everykidinapark.gov. This pass provides free access to national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and more!

The Every Kid in a Park pass is good for the 2015-2016 school year, until August 31, 2016. Information on obtaining the pass is available by visiting www.everykidinapark.gov.

Volunteers

The volunteer schedule is up for the rest of the year. I only have volunteers come in through April. May and June are just to crazy to schedule.

Curriculum

Reading -

When we return from break we are going to be pulling out a novel to read as a class. I am looking forward to sharing the book, Bud, Not Buddy with them.

Writing-

When we come back from break we will be working on a persuasive writing unit.

Even though we will be reading a novel in reading, the kids will still have spelling words from Journeys. I'll send a sheet on the Monday we return with the words for the week. They will be doing week 13 when we get back. Don't forget.... Spelling words are also located on our website http://www.grayskiddos.com/spelling-words.html

Math -

We have started our unit on multiplication. Please have your kiddo work on their multiplication facts a bit over break. The kids will be exposed to partial quotients, lattice and the traditional methods. They will be able to do the problems in any method they choose. The goal is for them to be successful in one of those methods but they also need to understand how the other methods work.

Science -

We are working on our animal adaption unit right now. kids are learning about structural and behavioral adaptations.

Social Studies -

They did it again! All of the kids got a hot chocolate coupon from me for getting an A on their southeast states and caps test. We will start the midwest region when we return from break!
