A Note from Mr. Morcone (Please note the links can be clicked on the electronic versions of this newsletter):
Hello Parents and Guardians:
I do not think anyone is surprised that Punxsutawney Phil is telling us that we will have more winter this year. Please continue to dress children appropriately when coming to school as we want to get outside for recess as conditions permit.
I want to thank the teachers and support staff members from not only MJT, but GES and the Jr.-Sr. High School for assisting our students by covering our classes while we had a staffing shortage this week. In case your child mentioned they had a different teacher this week. It is important to keep students learning in-person. We appreciate it!
Registration Will begin March 1, 2021 for Next Year's Incoming Pre-K and K students!
Join our Virtual Parent Information Night on March 18, 2021!
Here are a few items (some repeated) to note:
-Our PBIS Virtual Ceremony for the month of January is Friday. Last January our school had 43 office referrals. This past January, we were down to 16! (UPK-3) Great job students and staff.
-Winter Break: February 15-19
-For safety reasons there will not be any Valentine's Day Card or gift exchanges. Teachers will have an activity, in some form, to honor this date.
-i-Ready computer-based assessments have started and will continue to be administered between January 18-February 12. https://www.curriculumassociates.com/products/i-ready/i-ready-assessment

Important Topics:
Safety:
- Students have been outstanding with our full mask policy.
Attendance Reminder:
- If your child is absent and they are able to log into the teacher's Google Classroom for the core subject areas, they are eligible to receive attendance credit for the day. Please make arrangements with the classroom homeroom teacher.
- Given the timing of the absent notification (i.e. child is sick that particular day), the teacher may or may not be able to send you the paper activities that support the lessons until a later time as they will be in the middle of instruction or preparing for it.
- If your child is in a situation where remote learning pertains to them, has internet capability, and is not logged onto the teacher's Google Classroom physically at their specified time(s)-they are marked absent.
Remote Learners:
Make sure to engage in Art, PE and Music activities on Google Classroom!

General Announcements:
Emergency Activity Lessons/packet GRADES UPK-2: In the event of a brief (24-48 hour) closure, an emergency hard copy packet was sent home with your child at the start of the school year with an attached letter explaining this process. These activities arranged by grade level are now also posted on our MJT Webpage for easy access. You may have received updated materials from the classroom teacher. These activities are only for a 24-48 hour closure. After this duration, we will activate our Chromebook deployment and each child will receive their Closure Class Schedule from their teacher for full online/remote learning. Faculty and Staff will be checking in with you and your child during this time.
GRADE 3: In the event of a brief (24-48 hour) closure, grade 3 will use the full remote schedule that was sent to families by their respective teachers. This is due to students traveling with Chromebooks each day.
In some cases, the re-closure work below has been updated by your child's teacher and you have been notified. Please check the Website.
