the layers of the sun

core- central region where nuclear reactions consume hydrogen to form helium

radiative zone- extends outward from the outer edge of the core to the interface layer

convection zone- outermost layer of the solar interior, it extends from a depth of about 200,00 kilometers

photo-sphere- it is the deepest layer of the sun

chromo-sphere- a layer in the sun between about 250 miles and 1300 miles above the solar system

corona- outermost layer of the sun starting at 1300 miles above the solar surface

the aurora display occurred due to a a giant cloud of gas forming from the sun. a CME collided with earth's magnetic field and a geomagnetic storm occurred.
