The Sun

the layers of the sun
core- central region where nuclear reactions consume hydrogen to form helium
radiative zone- extends outward from the outer edge of the core to the interface layer
convection zone- outermost layer of the solar interior, it extends from a depth of about 200,00 kilometers
photo-sphere- it is the deepest layer of the sunchromo-sphere- a layer in the sun between about 250 miles and 1300 miles above the solar system
corona- outermost layer of the sun starting at 1300 miles above the solar surface
sun spots
sun spots are areas of high magnetic activity on the surface of the sun. even though sun spots produce bright light the surface around them produces even more so they seem dark in comparison.

twisted magnetic fields arching from the solar surface can trap ionized gas and suspend it in large hoop structures.

solar flares occur after a build up of magnetic energy explodes.
