Her husband, Gary Brewer, was born on May 29, 1943. Joann has 3 children....all girls Kelly, her first daughter, was born on September 18, 1968, Lisa her second daughter, was born on January 31, 1974 and Julie, her third daughter, was born February 18, 1976. Joann met Gary in High School. Joann had 8 years of grade school 1951 - 1959, 4 years of High School 1959 - 1963, 1 year of college 1963 –1964 and 1 year of business school 1964 - 1965. She was married on August 12, 1967 at St Rose Catholic Church in Cuba City, Wisconsin.
Her first job was when she was 14 years old, she worked corn detassling during the summer of 1958. Joann’s first full time job after graduating was Engineering Analyst in the Time Study Department at John Deere Dubuque Works in 1965. The biggest change Joann has seen in technology was when her employer got the IBM PC computers at John Deere in 1981 or 1982. Before that John Deere did not have any computers. Four employees shared one computer. The computer was on a lazy Susan type table so others swiveled it around when they needed to use it. Sometimes one of the four people would be using the computer and another person not realizing it would swivel it around and away from them. That made them unhappy, of course. Joann’s family got their own personal computer at home in 1982.
