FIRE DRILL
TITLE I UPDATE
Currently 26% of the EV population (about 150 students) qualifies for free and reduced lunch/breakfast. 18% of the OJRSD population qualifies for free and reduced lunch/breakfast. EV saw a 21% increase in breakfast participation for Sept/Oct/Nov from the previous year. Additionally, over 50 students qualified for a spring book fair coupon by getting breakfast 12 of the 15 days for the "12 Days of Breakfast."
UPCOMING PARENT WORKSHOP SERIES
From November to about mid-December, the Principal's Advisory Committee conducted a parent survey about a speaker/workshop series. From the results, about 72% of respondents indicated that they prefer to attend workshops on a weekday evening. Also, the top choices for workshop topics included "Technology Safety for Children" and "Bullying."
The PAC plans to coordinate workshops for parents related to "Technology Safety for Children" during the 19-20 school year and "Bullying" during the 20-21 school year. Look for a survey in next week's WEEKLY WOW about technology topics you'd like to learn more about.

BUILDING GOAL UPDATES
The Building Leadership Team (BLT) comprised of teacher leaders is working with their respective building goal committees to do mid-year analyses, such as perception feedback and academic data.
Student Growth and Achievement Committee:
Recently, the committee facilitated a faculty meeting with a focus on growing our readers using data. Faculty read an article and identified students who may not be making at least one year’s growth in one year’s time, including students who do not qualify for support. The topics for the Professional Development Day on February 14 will focus on student growth and achievement goals.
Safe and Caring Environment Committee:
The School-Wide Positive Behavior System (SWPBS) Core Team visited an elementary school in West Chester Area School District, which is in year 5+ of its SWPBS implementation. The core team observed a SWPBS "reboot" day on January 3. The SWPBS Core Team brought back ideas and planned for the EV SWPBS "reboot" on Tuesday, January 21. The EV faculty and staff continue to focus on social-emotional learning initiatives and the OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Program too.
Climate and Culture Committee:
The committee continues a mid-year progress review on the climate and culture of EV. Data show there is improvement of EV climate and culture based on spring 2019 to the present time. Climate and Culture led a successful campaign for bathroom stall painting project from Nailed It Phoenixville.
DISCIPLINE DATA UPDATE
We continue to report a decline in school discipline data.
From August 2018 to mid-January 2019, we had 812 discipline referrals. From August 2019 to the present, we have 352 discipline referrals. We had 26 bus conduct referrals in December 2018 and 8 bus conduct referrals in December 2019. From August 2018 to mid-January 2019, we had 103 bus conduct referrals. From August 2019 to mid-January 2020, we have 70 bus conduct referrals.
We attribute the decline to continued implementation of SWPBS, OLWEUS Bullying Prevention program, SEL lessons, clear disciplinary procedures, stronger relationships with students and families, and additional support at EV. The support we have includes mental health and behavior delivered by existing EV school personnel and additional personnel such as the OJRMS SAP counselor, an outside mental health counselor, behavior specialists, and two behavioral/mental health counselors. Through the first semester, we provided some level of coordinated health services for nearly 100 students or about 18% of our population.
