St. John Nepomuk Catholic School
Mission Statement
Dear St. John Families,
Words cannot even begin to express my gratitude for your support and excitement for our Falcon 5K & Fun Run Event! There were many SJN School and Church families in attendance, but I was amazed by the number of participants and guests who joined us who aren't part of our SJN family! What a great way to share our church and school with others in the Yukon community and beyond!
There are so many people to thank for this event! Our race director, Kari Dannemiller, left no detail to question, and I am sincerely grateful to her for her leadership in helping us turn this vision into a reality! job well done, Kari!
I am grateful to all volunteers and committee leaders who made this day possible. Thank you to the City of Yukon for the strong presence of law enforcement keeping this event as safe as possible. Thank you to Samaritan and the first responders who were ready to help in the event of an emergency.
I am incredibly proud of our student athletes! We have some really fast Falcons! I look forward to seeing them run the race again next year! Stay tuned for a date to be shared for our 2018 Falcon 5K & Fun Run!
In Christ,
Natalie Johnson

Auction News
Fall Donation Drive
Our Fall donation drive for our Gala kicks off today and will run through our Trivia Night event on October 27. We are sending folders home with each family today. Inside the folders, you will find a variety of important auction documents.
The most important item is an auction contract for each family. These contracts are used to commit to your donation. It is perfectly fine to complete a contract for an item you may not have acquired just yet. In this instance, please bring the donated item to the school office once you have it. Additional contracts can be collected in the office or sent home with students by request.
Many people have asked for ideas on what to donate, so we included a wish list in your folder. Also included are Sponsorship forms, flyers for our Trivia Night & Shopping Event, Save the Date Magnet and much more!
The class that has the most contracts and sponsorships returned during our Fall Donation Drive will earn an extra recess and an ice cream sundae party! In addition to this, if we meet our school goal of 75 contracts and sponsorships returned during this donation drive, Mrs. Natalie Johnson has agreed to let students turn her into a human ice cream sundae with all the fixings!
Watch the newsletter for more updates, and please contact our auction committee if you have any questions! Thank you for your support of our event and school!

AR Buttons
This year we are continuing to encourage our students to keep reading through the AR buttons. First grade through eighth grade all take part in Accelerated Reader. For every test they take they earn points. For the elementary levels we are using a Points Level Collector Button. As they earn points they will be able to earn a
button for different numbered levels.
We still want the students to take AR tests at their pace, this will only reward them for their hard work. The buttons will be handed out in morning meeting on the Second Thursday of each month. They will be able to show off their buttons on their backpacks and trade in their buttons as they earn new, higher levels.
The following students will receive their AR buttons next Thursday, October 12, 2017.
