Community Partner Honored
The Sioux Falls School District benefits from many supportive partners. When the pandemic hit, the Sioux Empire United Way reached out to support families in need and struggling with food. The United Way asked SFSD counselors and social workers to help get $100,000 worth of $25 HyVee Gift Cards into the hands of those in most need. This gift was a lifesaver for 850 families, especially those who were trying to navigate social programs for the first time due to the closure of their place of employment. Marie Fredrickson, Chair of the SEUW, attended the meeting to receive the District's thanks.

SD Legislature and the SF School District
SD’s 2021 Legislative Session kicks off in Pierre tomorrow, January 12. Last week, Superintendent Dr. Jane Stavem welcomed Sioux Falls area lawmakers to learn more about our District’s demographic make-up, student successes, educational opportunities, and the challenges created by COVID-19. SFSD wishes to thank these public servants for their interest and for the attention they give to the future of public education in South Dakota.
