Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
Public Out-of-State College:
Have you heard of the Western Undergraduate Exchange program?
Arizona's participation in Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) provides the opportunity for students to attend a public college, at the undergraduate level outside Arizona, at a reduced level of tuition (150% of the host institution's resident tuition.) The member states are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
If you are seriously considering a public out-of-state school, we encourage you to check the website to see if their school and program of choice is available at the WUE rate https://wuesavingsfinder.wiche.edu/search-results.php to search participating institutions by program of study. The WUE brochure: https://public.azregents.edu/WICHE%20Docs/WUE%20Brochure.pdf#search=wue
Interested applicants should contact the institution of choice and indicate that they would like to apply as a WUE applicant. There is not a separate WUE application.
During 2018-19, 1,614 students from Arizona enrolled in out-of-state programs at the WUE rate, saving $13 million in tuition and fees -- the average student savings amounted to $8,000. Additionally, during 2018-19, 7,917 out-of-state students attended Arizona universities and community colleges at the WUE rate.

The Tri-Universities are bringing a week of financial aid and paying for college programming to students, families, and supporters virtually, available to access at the same time all throughout the state.
