Band
- Mrs. Schlesener annaschlesener@usd475.org
6th grade classes have learned the entire Bb concert scale and have begun working on their first piece of concert music, Dragon Dance. They should be practicing 20 – 30 minutes per day at home. If they can’t take their instrument home, the band room is open M, Wed-Fri at 7:20 am for them to practice. We have a test over fingerings on Monday that will include the first 5 notes.
7th grade classes are working on concert music and should also be practicing 20 – 30 minutes per day! Testing for the 2nd 9 weeks will be after the concert.
8th grade classes are working on concert music and should also be practicing 20 – 30 minutes per day! Testing for the 2nd 9 weeks will be after the concert.
Pep band did a great job and dealt with some crazy wind at our performance on Tuesday! They have received 2 new songs to work on for our girls’ basketball performances that will be announced soon.
Select 7th and 8th graders will be receiving honor band tryout music. The date that recordings need to be turned in is November 7th. Students interested in trying out will need to stay after school to record the auditions. The honor band takes place in January at JCMS, more information will follow.
We are running low on tissues and there has been an uptick in runny noses and sneezing this week. If you could send a box I would appreciate it! We are good to go on hand sanitizer and wipes 😀
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Band Concert is November 18th at 6 pm in the FRMS Auditorium. Students will need to report to the band room by 5:15 pm to receive their shirts and to warm up.
Students need to wear black from the waist down. We will provide a white polo shirt that will be checked out the day of the concert and returned as soon as the concert is over. Please DO NOT take them home and wash them, we will do that here at school.
All 3 classes will be performing in the following order: 6th, 7th, 8th. Students are required to stay through the entire performance so please do not leave until the 8th grade is done playing. It should be done by 7pm.
If you have any questions or concerns please drop me an email at: annaschlesener@usd475.org
