Important News for You!
May 17, 2021
Only 24 school days until the end of the school year! It's hard to believe! This year has presented many challenges for parents, students and educators alike. It hasn't been easy but somehow we have found the resilience within our human spirit to navigate the times albeit through trial and error. As human beings we found many things were not in our control and that bothered us. However, there is something we have in our control right now...the power to help our children, our students, our future, finish the year strong!
The last day of school for students is June 18 (a half day). Teachers are already preparing students for next year by focusing on main concepts of knowledge that will help students begin a new school year. While our entire nation will have to look at recalibrating the pacing and review of subject matter for the coming year, we are focusing on filling some critical curriculum gaps during the last month of school. Therefore, it is essential that your children are in school as long as they are physically healthy and able to do so.
The warmer weather at this time of year also presents opportunities to provide our students with a balance of "celebratory social, emotional, and knowledge-based educational experiences" such as this week's "Farm Day" and routine classroom activity. Thomson teachers and support staff continue to work hard toward making sure students have a chance to experience a sense of the completion of the school year. Such an experience is important to making things as normal as possible for our students. Someday they will look back and tell their children what it was like to weather a pandemic. Thank you for helping them complete this year's "pioneer" effort!

Farm Day at Thomson
The farm will bring baby animals and a cow for the children to learn about and pet - and maybe even get a chance to milk the cow if they want to.
Please feel free to have your child dress like a farmer, cowboy or cowgirl on Friday.
Due to limited space, we won't be able to invite parents, however, watch for the next issue of the Tidbits for lots of fun pictures.
If you want your child to wear sunscreen, you may apply it to your child prior to school. Unfortunately, we cannot apply sunscreen.
