Sole Purpose
"Sharing Ours to Remember Theirs"
About our "Sole Purpose"
Sole Purpose was designed initially as a class project, but over time, through classroom discussions, we decided to find a way that we could give back to the community. We are hoping to partner with NIKE to develop a "limited edition" of shoes. Three pair every year to be designed by the nations youth that will celebrate the lives of those lost to this senseless act. When the shoes are put into production, all of the proceeds from the sales of those shoes will be donated to the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association's Coalition to Walk and Run; providing funding for those needing prosthetic devices from injuries sustained during the 2013 bombings of the Boston Marathon. And once the needs are met, that Nike will continue providing the donations for any and all in need of assistance from the AOPA.
This is your invitation!!
Please come out and support our cause as the paper shoes designed by Tejeda Middle School students will be on display for the community to enjoy. The paper shoe templates were found as a free download on www.artandsoleblog.com, designed by Matthew Nicholson for the Art & Sole iD Project.
Featured Designer: Amber Liffrig
Martin William Richard age 8
This emotionally charged design was inspired by photos of Martin wearing his Boston Bruin jersey and his heartfelt quote "No More Hurting People."
Lingzi Lu age 23
Through exploring the Chinese culture, Amber used the Lily as her design inspiration as it is believed to "replenish and release the soul."
Krystle Campbell age 29
Amber chose the colors of Krystle's job and uniform for her design. She explained that as she progressed through her research and found photos of Krystle, that she was moved by her smile.
