Dalai Lama Fellows

Dalai Lama Fellows - An Introduction

What would YOU do to change the world?

Thursday, Nov. 1st 2012 at 4:30-6pm

King 239, Oberlin

Find out how you can be a Dalai Lama Fellow! Applications are due Jan. 7th, 2013!

Come listen to Hilary Neff, Rachel Manning, and David Fisher, current and former Oberlin Fellows, share their experiences. David formed Interfaith Appalachia which brings people together across differences of faith, politics, and environmental perspective for service, dialogue, and community development. Rachel and Hilary first went to Harlan County, KY with David on a service trip; as Dalai Lama Fellows, they engaged community members and a local elementary school in the Mountain Garden Initiative, which provides a space for kids to learn about science, nature, and gardening in a hands-on, outdoor environment in an area with limited access to fresh, local produce.

We are looking for globally minded citizens who passionately want to build a more harmonious, peaceful, and sustainable world. More than ever, our individual ability to thrive – indeed survive – is interwoven with the destinies of others. As a Fellow, you:

  • Design and launch a project to address a significant challenge in your community;
  • Travel 2x to the Ethical Leadership Assembly (ELA) near San Francisco to connect with Fellows from around the world and to deepen your leadership capacity;
  • Receive up to $10,000 in funding for your project and travel to the ELA; and,
  • Participate in a distinctive, year-long curriculum with ongoing, personalized support from staff and seasoned professionals from the private and social sectors.
