Superintendent Briefing
August 2018
Welcome Back!!
WELCOME BACK! We are excited to welcome you to what will be a great school year at North Platte Public Schools. We hope you enjoyed the summer months with your families and friends.
The North Platte Public School District is working collectively to become a great school district. It is a district that collaborates to create and improve an effective integrated district-wide system to ensure adults have the capacity to support students and learning in collaboration with family, businesses, and community members.
Greatness occurs when all students are prepared to be productive, responsible citizens in a safe, caring, and supportive learning environment. We (the district) have 13 years to accomplish this purpose - every year, every day matters! The NPPSD staff value teamwork, hard work, collaboration, respect, trust, loyalty, honesty, integrity and student success. These values are unique to NPPSD so each of us need to model and reinforce the things that are going to distinguish us as a school district. What makes North Platte School District GREAT?
We have hired some great teachers and administrators to go along with the great ones we already have. We have a Board of Education and support staff who work diligently to support our efforts to accomplish our district’s purpose. We have what it takes to motivate and challenge our students and staff to become one of the best school districts in Nebraska.
We are creating a culture that is unique and we need to do the hard work to cultivate that unique culture of greatness. We can’t mandate our culture. We can’t force our staff to work in a certain way. But we can set up the environment through organizational design by honoring our values as well as reinforcing and recognizing staff and students who model our values. Creating a positive working culture will cultivate the kind of culture that we want. We will do what it takes to make North Platte School District great!
You’re Invited! Please mark your calendars and plan to attend our Districtwide Welcome Back Kickoff event on Tuesday, August 14, from 7:30 to 11:15 a.m. at NPHS Performing Arts Center. All NPPSD employees are invited to attend this fun, Districtwide event, so we can kick off the new school year feeling supported, enthusiastic and focused on achieving greatness. I will give an overview of the district highlights and vision for the future. The keynote speaker, Jon Gordon, will help set the direction for ‘what makes great teams great.’
Thank you for all you do in making North Platte School District a great place to work and learn. Let’s have a great year.
