St. Jerome School Weekly Newsletter

"May the mother of Jesus and our mother, always smile on your spirit, obtaining for it, from her most holy Son, every heavenly blessing"
St. Padre Pio
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
Thank you all for your cooperation and support as we enter our second week of school. As I've been visiting the classrooms, it has been great to see all that our students and teachers have managed to accomplish this past week.
Just a reminder for the afternoon, if you are parking and picking up at the ramp, please be mindful that we walk a line of students down Colfax Street to cross at Welsh Road. A line comes from each building, meet by the rectory, and then proceed down the street. As a reminder, we need all traffic to stop and wait as we move the Welsh Road line safely to Colfax Street. Thank you for your cooperation with this; we work each day to complete our dismissal procedures safely and quickly and are usually able to be finished within ten minutes of the final bell.
We had brand new Wednesday folders custom printed, but they have been delayed (as have many materials this summer with supply chain issues). We should have them next week. We try to send home flyers and other materials on paper on Wednesdays; I also try to post an electronic copy of these handouts in the Weekly Newsletter and on the Communication page of the school website.
Picture day is next Wednesday, September 15th. Picture packets were sent home today. If you have a child in Pre-K3 or Pre-K4 who does not usually come to school on Wednesdays, you are welcome to bring him or her into school at 9:00 AM; we will also have a retake day later in the year for students who are unable to have their pictures taken on picture day (date TBA).
September and October hot lunch orders are due tomorrow, Thursday. A copy of the form is below.
If your child is not feeling well, please make sure to keep him or her home; we ask that you call your child out by calling the school and leaving a message or speaking to Mrs. Bacanskas: 215-624-0637. Please notify me or the school office if your child tests positive for COVID-19 or is exposed to a person who tests positive. We will give you guidance as well as check with the Philadelphia Department of Health. Any student in 1st-8th grades who is quarantined or tests positive will be switched to virtual learning. We can typically accommodate these requests with one day. In Pre-K and Kindergarten we will make arrangements on an individual basis.
We will also notify our families if the department of health asks us to quarantine members of the class. We will follow the guidance that they give us which will vary depending on a variety of factors that are unique to each case.
We invite you to join us next week for Winchester Wednesday on September 15th from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. Haley Quinn's and Hoboken Cucina will be serving their culinary specialties. Please see the flyer below for more information.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
