Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Note from Principal Purfurst

Welcome to Padilla! We are so excited to meet everyone at our Ribbon Cutting and Back to School Open House, and especially excited to meet all of our Polar Bears on the first day of school!

There is a plethora of important information for you in this newsletter. If you have any questions about the information in it, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask!

As we open this new school, there will be hiccups and bumps in the road. We've spent a great deal of time working minimize those, but they are still sure to occur. We ask for your patience and grace as we work through those, and welcome your feedback as you notice things that we can get better on!

Additional Staff

We are experiencing a huge surge in enrollment as we prepare to start the school year! We are grateful that so many families are excited to join our school!

This influx of students does mean that we are working as quickly as possible to hire additional staff for your students. This reality mean that your student may temporarily experience larger than ideal class sizes until we can get these additional staff hired and started.

Despite that, all Padilla staff members are committed to keeping your kids safe, making them feel welcomed, and beginning their learning this new school year!

Again, we appreciate your patience and grace as we work as quickly as possible to bring on additional staff!

Students Receiving Special Education Services

We are incredibly excited to be home to 27J Schools' second Learning Center. This program supports students with autism who have particular academic needs. Ms. Hynes and the team in the Learning Center are excited to welcome all students to Padilla!

In addition to that, we will be supporting a full and robust program for students needing specialized services in other areas. Many of you have had the opportunity to meet staff members who will be supporting your student. Unfortunately, Ms. Lista who was hired to as our Special Education Teacher has left the school prior to the school year starting. We have moved quickly and hired Ms. Russell-Bickford to fill this position and she is ready to meet you and your child at our Back to School night!

Ribbon Cutting and Back-to-School Open House

We are excited to finally and officially open Padilla Elementary School!

Please join us for our Ribbon Cutting ceremony, taking place on Monday, August 9th at 6:00 PM at the main entrance to Padilla.

Our Back-to-School Open House will follow immediately after until 8:00 PM. This is the perfect opportunity for you and your child to meet your child's teacher!

Because this event will also be open to the public, we ask that students and families do not bring school supplies to the Back-to-School open house, and instead bring them on the first day of school.
