Important Information
We have gotten such great feedback about how effective community building circles and Second Step lessons are going in advisory. Here's my challenge to you...How effectively are you also using the strategies from the lessons in your other classes? Here is an excellent article on SEL and students that need additional support. PBIS: Cougar Cash and Pride Store Protocol
After reviewing the survey results, we have created the first iteration of our menu. Cougar Cash is a Tier I intervention which means all students must have access to these tickets. Please determine your plan/s for handing out Cougar Cash/Pride Tickets. We will also be recognizing staff with random drawings; so, be sure to sign your name (legibly) on these tickets.
Protocol:
- Students will receive Cougar Cash for following the Behavior Expectations (see behavior matrices and non-negotiable expectations below.
- Students will save these tickets until the want to cash them in (see menu).
- Students will exchange their tickets for items off the menu on Fridays at lunch with Mr. Reid.
- Mr. Reid will place the tickets into grade level bins; we will have a grade level competition which will last all year. The grade level with the most tickets turned in, will earn a party (details forthcoming).
- At lunch, we will also pull tickets from these bins; students will be called up to spin the prize wheel with a chance to win something from the menu.
Thank you for your donations. Keep them coming, as they are much appreciated!
Please share this information in Advisory before Friday (11/22).

6th Grade: Setting Goals
Students can learn how to accomplish things they value by setting appropriate goals and using effective strategies to achieve them. In this lesson, students learn a research-based, developmentally appropriate goal-setting strategy where they practice breaking big goals down into small, simple steps and create IF–THEN PLANS for how to achieve each small step.
