THANK YOU!
Just a quick thanks to ALL BUILDINGS for using gDocs in PLCs, TBTs, BLTs, and Encores!!! Already this year, I have been able to keep up with what the various groups are doing and comment / provide resources / answer questions!! This is AWESOME!!! Let your teachers know if they specifically want an answer from me, they can "tag" me (or any other central office staff) in a comment by typing "@ccollins..." and I will respond.
Business
New Business:
- A-Team-- At tomorrow's A-team we're going to touch base on MAX Teaching to see where teachers are and briefly continue conversation on PBIS. Please look at the table on the A-Team notes and fill in what your building is already doing before our meeting to save some time.
- BLT Initiatives Tables-- Most of you have BLTs meeting in the next week or so. Please make sure you are revisiting (or creating) your BLT initiative sheets and keeping your building initiatives in line with DLT. The ones I have are stored in this A-Team Subfolder.
- Central Office Admin Meetings-- These meetings happen before our A-Team meetings and last right up to the start of A-Team. Just FYI if you happen to see us meeting in the conference room before A-Team.
- Constitution Day Reminder from ODE-- "Each year, on Sept. 17, schools nationwide take part in observing the day in 1787 that the U.S. Constitution was signed. Educational institutions receiving federal funding must plan an education program celebrating Constitution Day. Observation of Constitution Day this year for schools is Monday, Sept. 18. - DLT Expectations-- Be sure to remind teachers to try at least one strategy they learned and begin collecting student samples of work for discussion.
- A-Team Book Study-- Books are being ordered.

Can I buy...?
Adoptions need to be done during the spring only moving forward. It's important that we are all able to plan ahead for the purposes of budgeting appropriately at the beginning of the year.
What constitutes a "Curriculum Adoption" vs. "Instructional Supplement"? Here's the flowchart we created to help answer this question!
My students are already struggling...What should I do?
I've gotten this question a couple times already, and my responses have been the same...
- How do you know they're struggling outside of them not doing homework?
- What are you doing differently for this student?
- How are you providing intervention in the classroom?
- What data are you taking into consideration?
Unfortunately, so far, when I've asked these questions, teachers have not responded. I hope that we're all asking the same questions.
What assessment are we supposed to use?
Last year, we created this BLS Assessment document with the tests used at each grade level. If you're making any changes, please let me know so we can update. The goal is to make assessment and its purposes more clear!
